Interesting experience quitting TRT

So last took 40mg of short acting testosterone propionate 8 days ago. The half life if 20 hours. So theoretically it should be completely out of my system in 4.5 days. The reason I stopped is I aromatize like crazy when I can't workout. I had ACDF surgery and am not allowed to work out for one more month. Anyhow when I get high estrogen I take Anastrozole but sometimes I take to much and other times not enough. I've tried Journaling how much I'm taking to find a trend so I could take a consistent amount of Anastrozole. It's just unpredictable. If I don't notice my estrogen rising I can get blood pressure spikes north of 180/95. Alternatively if I take to much I can get very badly crashed estrogen and get high bp spikes there as well. This has gone on for years. I've gotten to the point where 99% of the time I can tell if it's high or low by my symptoms. I know that I'm not mistaken because I feel better after i take Anastrozole. But yes there are periods where I take to much. It's pretty complicated but take my word for it when I say I've tried everything to find consistency but shit just changes. I can't say I'm gonna take .25 every day and get blood work because my side effects are so bad I'm forced to take more which prevents me from trying a set amount and assessing with blood work. I get extremely anxious, insomnia and just feel awful when estrogen is high. So I have to treat it accordingly.

So now I'm 8 days off testosterone propionate and still needing to take Anastrozole. Again this is not in my head please just take my word for it. I literally feel much better after I take it. It's not some like I think I feel better. It's night and day. My question is to those that aromatize pretty well if and when you quit did you still need Anastrozole after the testosterone left your system?

Daily Cialis can change testosterone to estrogen ratios by inhibiting aromatase over several months of continued treatment. It does sound like you’re experiencing a rebound effect after taking anastrozole, once the AI leaves your system, an aggressive E2 rebound occurs.

I experienced this E2 rebound effect after seven days of stopping anastrozole.

It does sound like you’re treating the wrong thing which is why it seems like you’re on a roller coaster ride and can never find balance. Similar to Cushing’s disease, an increase in all steroid hormones, TRT increases aldosterone produced in adrenal glands, which enters the kidneys, and tells the kidneys to absorb more sodium and sodium, carries water. This leads to fluid retention.

This fluid retention can cause blood pressure spikes. The AI is acting like a diuretic, decreasing fluid retention and then estrogen crashes, then several days later you experienced the E2 rebound effect.

That's just it I'm still taking Anastrozole. It's been 10 days off propionate and if I don't take Anastrozole I feel horrible bad anxiety I will be up all night. I get very high blood pressure if estrogen gets to high. I'm not mistaken either because again I feel physically and mentally horrible and take Anastrozole and feel good. Trust me it makes no sense because I have no testosterone in my system. I did read that more estrogen can be created when you're system is coming back online. This was from a doctor so I assume he knows what he's talking about.

I'm not surprised at all that you feel high Estrogen since it follows testosterone. Right now the ratio between adrogens and estrogens in your body is definetely skewed torwards estrogen.

Back when I was a young idiot, I got gyno AFTER I came off a suerdrol cycle. Like 1-3 months after.

Does blood work confirm elevated e2? Or are you making an assumption?
When you've been on TRT for 7 years you would be a fool not to recognize high or low estrogen symptoms. Not to mention when you're having these symptoms and they completely go away after taking Anastrozole it's pretty obvious. It's like if I have a headache and take some Tylenol and the headache goes away it's pretty clear you did infact have a headache. I've never in my life just manifested extremely uncomfortable symptoms. There's some fools that think we'll it must be in your head lol. Well now if it wasn't high estrogen then I would have crashed my estrogen and I know what that feels like too. Just trust me it's 110% high estrogen. I have had tons of blood work over the years anyhow.

Interesting thanks for the information!

How profound can the changes be? I never hear it touted as an AI alternative. Can it be?

Edit: I read the embedded study. The subjects were taking cialis 10 to 20 mg on demand, not daily. I wonder what these results can suggest about a lower dosage taken daily.

@Systemlord / I know you've been having great success with Jatenzo but not easy to get any of the oral versions of testosterone covered by insurance. Yes, one's doctor would have to write a letter to the insurance company. Their days are quite busy, even in a group practice like the one where my urologist practices.

I've read that oral testosterone is metabolized more efficiently. I can only surmise that as positive abstracts are published regarding those forms of testosterone, more insurance companies might start covering it, particularly if Medicare should ever cover it. Likely years down the road.

To the point where I had to stop Cialis. The day I reduced my dosage from 5->2.5 mg, my estrogen level was 18. I feel better the longer I go without the Cialis. When I first started taking it, I felt amazing, more energy, but that changed over time.

Since stopping Cialis yesterday, my muscles feel and look more fuller and respond to my workouts like never before! My strength and stamina is a lot higher.

I hope I continue to feel good, if that changes, I may have to cycle Cialis.

Typically how long after stopping TRT does the Estrogen rebound take place and how long before it's symptoms go away?
A lot longer for estrogen to rebound after stopping TRT, because you need testosterone to make estrogen while on TRT. It's anyone's guess. If we are talking about stopping the AI and waiting for the E2 rebound to go away, I stopped TRT for 2 week after stopping the AI.
