Healthy man...low tests and low shbg :(

Hi,

How come I have low shbg and low tests..I do long distance cycling, not overweight...healthy 40y man

Free tests is 258 pmol/l [220-800]
Shbg 18 nmol/l [18-54]
S-testostrone 13.5 nmol/l [8-32]

Is trt is the only way to go? Or do I have other options also?

Well I don't train on that level but today I visited urologist, he said these numbers look ok independent of symptoms...

A lot of urologists, doctors in general are clueless, receive no training in sex hormones. For these doctors, in range is normal and that's the end of the discussion.

Many doctors aren't up to date on current medical literature!

So what do you think is the numbers normal? I have lack of libido symptoms...eating healthy and sleeping well... Very seldom morning erection in past 2-3 years :/

No two doctors can agree on what's normal, experts recommend against a hard cut off value for reasons stated above.

Sex hormones is a new field of medicine, we don't have it all figured out yet.

The cut offs for TRT are arbitrary, everywhere around the world.

Many experts say Free T in the low normal range is a sign of hypogonadism.

There are studies showing symptoms of low-T <500 or 17.35 nmol/L.

Men outside the US have a very difficult time with getting a correct diagnosis.
