I was 49. I felt like crap and went to a PCP that had me check my all hormones...She stated that my t level were that of a 80YO...Women:confused:. Need less to say I freaked out. That was 10 years ago and feel like a million bucks!

did you ever add HCG?
Yes I did, eventually. 500mg twice a week, Test Cep .4ml twice a week as well, SubQ, no AI. Doing this since I started with Defy 3 years ago. Been a very good experience. Also had my thyroid tested as well back then and she found it was out of whack. Has me on 130 mg Naturethroid daily. Blood test every 6 month and for now I'm dialed in!

Awesome to hear that you’re feeling so good! Love hearing success stories. Where does your E2 and SHBG sit at? If you don’t mind me asking.

started at age 25. total test on multiple blood draws--- 300's - 400's. free test 10-15. felt great, erections touching the ceiling, no reason to go on, etc. but i went on the testosterone for physique enhancement "bodybuilding" purposes. made the decision at 25 to blast and cruise for life. been a bit of a battle ever since. on and off blast, trying to dial in trt cruises, etc. mostly just stay on cruise now. getting closer and closer to how i felt in my early 20's but not quite there yet. current age is 28.

Thanks for the response. My SHBG is at 40, and I’ve been trying to get my E2 around 40-60. So good to know you’re feeling so good at basically my goal E2 level. Hopefully I feel as good as you do when I get there! Lol. Thanks again. Sorry to derail the thread.

I can’t remember exactly but i think I was in my sixties. I don’t recall any of the numbers, but I don’t think I needed trt. I just wanted to enhance my performance in bed. The downside of this is I became preoccupied with sex, although I didn’t see any harm in it, my wife did and it had a effect on our marriage. I just turned 87 and I still inject weekly. Marriage is solid now, my total testosterone is 1160, I know that’s high. I’m in excellent shape, work out nearly every day, the only medication I take I’d testosterone, no health issues, so I can see no reason to change. Bottom line is I think I started trt too young for all the wrong reasons, if I had to do over I would have waited until I really needed it.

I love to hear about your kind of success with TRT well into the senior years. This has been a curiosity for me, as to how I would fair into my late 70's and 80's while on TRT. Great to hear your doing so well, and thanks for relieving some angst I was having.

I was 56 and had a total testosterone of 260.

It took a year of poor medical care before I arrived at my current doctor's and progress since then has been spectacular. Four years of daily injections have made me a very happy man. I am dealing with a slightly elevated PSA at age 61, still in-range but creeping up, but I also have a long history of prostatitis that explains this (at least it has so far).

55yrs old (6ft, 195 lbs, generally good health and fitness) and started TRT about 2 months ago after stumbling upon this board and soaking up all the great info and insights from some of you folks. My TT was 439 [264-916] and FT was 7 [7.2-24]. Doc started me on T-cyp (nothing else) at 100mg/week. I decided to split the dose at 50mg every 3.5 days. My main concern for starting TRT was cognition, and at about week 3 for about 1 week I felt great - higher energy, sharper focus, elevated mood. Now I'm back to about where I started, maybe marginally better. I should have recent lab results back Mon or Tues. I'm VERY curious to see where the numbers are. In hindsight I wish I thought to go for a blood test during my "honeymoon" period at week 3 to see what was making me feel so good.

I really wonder why this happens. I used to think it was due to estrogen going too high, but now I think it might be more due to at the beginning you had the exogenous testosterone in your system, at the same time as your endogenous testosterone. And once your own production stopped, the injections just weren’t enough. So maybe you just need higher levels of testosterone to get back to that sweet spot. Or it could be downstream hormones shutting off, and you could replace those with pregnenolone and/ or DHEA. Or it could be a dopamine rush when initiating TRT. Regardless of what the reason(s), id really really like to know what causes this. It’s a common thing that happens when guys start TRT.

You would think this would be better researched.

It could be you develop some tolerance to testosterone, where initially you react strongly then your body adjusts to the new levels.

I have also had where when first starting TRT, there was a mild reaction like more energy, but then after several months there was a real turbocharged feeling with hypersexuallity. (Having stopped and started twice, I can compare, it was different each time)

Life is always better with TRT, having experienced the change no one could convince me otherwise.

Ya i’d love to know more conclusively what causes this. Whether it’s the same reason for most men, or it’s just going to be a case by case basis depending on the guy. Really hope we eventually learn more about why this occurs.

And I don’t think anyone can argue with you on that one. Life will always be better when hormones are optimized. For some, better than they’ve felt their entire lives. Some people are hormonally imbalanced from puberty.

I started at age 61 with a total T of 205. Now I am pretty dialed in on my protocol and usually run just over 1000.

At the outset I had complete ED which was not helped even with quadruple doses of Cialis or Viagra. I had not had a nocturnal erection for two decades. Now the nocturnal erections are back and the ED is vastly improved.

I started recently at the age of 42 and my testosterone level was at 420. 6 months prior to this it was at 437 and 5 years prior it was at 473. I figured I am half dead and why not give it a shot.
Last year at 42 years old. Total T was <300. Got on 200mg of cyp and next blood work was 1290. Dose was lowered to 150 mg and been hovering around 700- 800 ish. Prescribed at 200 again though to be honest I am keeping it at 150-175mg per week as I was having some acne flair ups and wanted to see if the lower dose would help. Still playing around.

Lol. For a second when I read this I thought you were saying 500 mg of test a week twice a week (1000mg total ) I was like “what” and thru a clinic. I was ready to call BS. Lol. All good. Glad it’s working.

I started TRT at age 58.

My total T on 6th June 2017 was (349) 348 - 1,197 ng/dL.

This reference range was reduced by Lab Corp on 17th July 2017 to 264 - 916. Based on change in reference range I would now be considered low normal lol!

I inject 1 time every 7 days, a small amount. Started out at .5Ml, then went to .4, now at .35Ml. Total T 4 days after injection 800+.

Sex Horm Binding Glob (42.2) 19.3 - 76.4

No HCG, No AI, feel great.

Thanks to this forum and no thanks to my urologist I have zeroed in on my testosterone 1009 total, free 9.6 my E2 is less than 5. I am injecting 50 mg of cyp T twice per week and 500 iu of Hcg 3 x week and .5 anastrozole twice per week. I want to up my E2, I can stop the anastrozole and I would like bump up my free. I actually have no. problems in sexual performance, but I still would like to optimize, I would appreciate any advice. One more comment, I can say enough about about the nitric oxide stack from Mr.Dewine, I can’t believe at my age I can have that kind of sexual energy.
