Feeling depressed the day following DHEA supplementation

My doc suggested 25 mg DHEA at night for sleep. Last night I gave it a shot and slept pretty good. This morning I felt pretty groggy and all day long I have felt drowsy/down/flat/depressed.

Is this due to the cortisol suppression from DHEA? I’m thinking maybe I’ll cut the dose down to 10 mg and give it another shot because the sleep benefit was nice. I just didn’t enjoy the after effects.

Have you had your DHEA levels checked? I would assume your levels are low and that's why you're supplementing with it.

I agree with everyone else here and add that in Men DHEA can very easily be converted to Estrogen. Some times the type of DHEA like an oral micronized or transdermal can limit conversion but it's still there.

I take 100 mg nightly now for a week and all of a sudden I have daily morning wood. For the last 6 months I've been taking it in the morning with no noticeable pros or cons. It's 100 mg slow release compounded.
