Thanks, Gene. What are your thoughts on how to determine the correct, individualized dose for Pregnenolone?

When mine were low my doc gave me a supplement called Adren-all and it really helped bring them up. Of course it is herbal with some adrenal extract and other stuff, but it seemed to work well. Not sure if it has stuck over a year later but I should have my 4x cortisol results any day.

Good question considering that the Pregnenolone labs are highly unreliable since most of our Pregnenolone resides in tissue and not blood serum.
The 50 mg per day has been the standard recommended dosage by most of the top HRT Physicians including Life Extension and others.
It's been my dose for years and I feel good not worse...I will stick to it.

I wanted to chime in here and report I started using the Nature's Plus lipoceutical DHEA sublingual spray mentioned in this thread - and feel better with it. There have been no negative issues as I had previously experienced with most forms of oral DHEA I had used in the past.

IMO, Pregnenolone is highly overrated and causes way to many side effects for me.... Acne, oily skin and irritability to name a few.
For those of you that take benzo's, pregnenolone antagonizes certain acute effects.....

The one just used was from vitaliving and was $130 for 4x cortsol plus DHEAs. I think most all the ones out there end up gong to ZRT labs, so just shop by price is my motto!

For cortisol the diurnal saliva test is the gold standard. Blood tests only give you a snapshot and 24 hour urine only gives an average. With the saliva you collect a tube at four times and can then plot out your cortisol pattern. Go with the diurnal 4x saliva and it usually also gives you DHEAs results too.

If canary club has the best price then use them - almost every single cortisol test I have seen goes to ZRT labs like you posted above. So find the outfit that provides the ZRT lab test at the cheapest price and run with it. 119 is cheaper than the 130 I paid from Vitaliving.

Range on the DHEA test changed?
Both "T" and free "T" went down a bit. I have noticed that my compounded cream could be mixed a bit better as there are small lumps from time to time, but over all I am in the 700 to 800 range most test.
I did the Canary cortisol (4 sample) test and wating on results.
Did some additional labs today in preperation of seeing my DR in 2 weeks or so. Will be interesting to see those results.
SHBG seems to be staying in the 34 to 37 range.
E2 seems to be staying in the 30 range at thigh DHEA range.
I will stay at the 150mg DHEA and 50 mg Pregnenolone[/COLOR]

FWIW I had previously reported in this thread that oral forms of DHEA or pregnenolone I had tried absolutely killed my sex drive. Based on another members feedback here, I tried a product made by Nature's Plus, called Instaceutic DHEA Spray, a sublingual application, with very good results as of my first bottle (better energy, better sex drive, better wood). I recently re-ordered this product, and inexplicably, the company re-formulated the product. After a couple weeks use, once again my sex drive and ability to get an erection (morning wood or otherwise) plummeted. Since I bought three bottles, I intend to return the rest if possible.
I think the next step for me will be to try McPherson Labs as recommended by Gene, and see if that works for me.

Had been doing bloodwork and not taking my T cream and thyroid meds, but took my other meds and supplements.
This time I did not take any meds or supplements..

One can see that micronized DHEA and Preg is the way to go! I had the same results when I switched from a transdermal DHEA and Preg to micronized slow release pill form...labs went through the roof
BTW, look at the difference in lab results for your E2!
See how the Standard default lab over estimates men's E2 levels compared to the Sensitive lab!
If a Doc just ordered the standard lab he might end up prescribing an AI to get your E2 serum levels down when in fact you are probably already too low!
This is why it is so important to order the Sensitive assay...no if ands or buts about it!!!
