Where do you feel your best?

I don't mean in a lazyboy recliner....I mean at what T level. For instance, when I was on 100mg per week my TT was in the 800s, but I felt better, had more libido, and was less greasy on 60mg per week with TT around 550. I'm curious as to why that is but perhaps we all need different amounts and if my levels have always been lowish then perhaps I don't need a bunch of T to feel better. However , maybe those that grew up with high levels and then plummeted need higher levels....

So, at what dose and what level do you feel best?

How often are you injecting?
For me my levels are 700-800 and I feel good. I take .5 cc twice a week of Cypionate 200mg/ml. before I was taking .5cc once a week and after about 3 days I would start feeling crappy. Twice a week, works better for me. If I was in the 500 I dont think i would be feeling as well as I do. Before shots I was at 175 so I feel a hell of a lot better.

Everyone is different what is optimal for one might be the mid range for someone else. Unless you had T levels tested when you were 18 you have no idea where you true normal level is at.

All very true. I think I was always in the 400s if I recall a lab test right from my 20s.

Personally I inject three times a week just to try and minimize volume because the more I inject the more painful and itching the lump is that remains.

Like I said I felt better at 60 than 100mg but I may try and split it and go to 80 just to see how that goes.

Great post. Many guys don't realize we all respond differently and benefit from different levels of T.

I feel my best around 700-800ng. When my levels get to, or above 1000ng I tend to get reverse libido effect and anxious. When I was taking my injection once per week I would tend to feel my best toward day 5-6 as levels dropped.

JBruce - one of the reasons I put this out there. It seems like guys think they need to shoot for the stars and expect miracles if they can push the upper limits of normal, when in truth they may feel much better at a lower dose. But hey - we are guys, so if a little is good then a ton must be better haha

Remember guys, it's not just where Total Testosterone levels are at that dictate how you feel but other serum levels as well like Estrogen, DHT, SHBG and more.

If one reduced their Testosterone dosage and they feel better is it because they lowered the dose or is it because E2 feel back into the sweet spot.

Like an orchestra, many instruments to make it all happen!!!

Gene is spot on higher your levels go more conversion to E occurs and has a offsetting effect also if like me you have low SHBG then you have more bio-available T even at lower levels of Total T

As much as we would all like it to be an exact science TRT is more of an art that varies from person to person

You tapped on the point I was going to make as well ... Like you, my SHBG is rather low, and my free test is usually at/around the 3.2% range. So truthfully, I can do quite well in the 600ng to 700ng/dl range. That's why factoring free & bio-available in the equation is crucial. One guy at 550ng/dl might be getting more actual bio testosterone than his counterpart with a serum level of 800ng/dl. It's not an equal playing field when it comes to serum levels to say the least. To boot, everyone metabolizes differently, and downstream conversion can vary across the spectrum.

All great points. I agree gettinganswers, us men tend to have a 'more is better' mentality when it comes to things that improve performance (think engines, guns, and woman :)

When it comes to the ED issues and loss of libido men experience when T levels become too elevated, I have always wondered if part of it was due to an improper balance between Dopamine and T levels. When dopamine is off balance one can experience terrible ED and libido loss. I believe this balance is just as important as E/T ratio for optimal sex drive. The dopamine importance becomes evident in men on anti-depressants, who use cocaine or prescribed amphetamines, or when you become really stressed out. No matter how high T levels are. What if when our T becomes superphysiological our balance between T and dopamine becomes skewed which can lead to ED/loss of drive?

How interesting!

Testosterone serum levels to Dopamine ratios!

Intuitively it makes so much sense to me!!!

Is the consensus that Cabergoline is the best way to tweak Dopamine as Gene has mentioned? I know there are some pre-cursors but they make me very jittery since they also convert to noradrenaline and adrenaline. For instance, I took a low dose of tyrosine and I had a profound boost in my mood, but I also couldn't sleep that night and felt like I had a pot of coffee.

I have often wondered if my dopamine levels are low since my motivation is low and so is my libido....

So what is the fix/help for someone who is expirencing large amounts of stress and the typical natural remedies don't be seeming to help sufficiently?

Simple Dave; a major overhaul of their current lifestyle.

Go ask all those Northerners that live in the Keys now LOL;)

You know what I mean...

I'm with you superdave. I spent too many years relying on benzos and I am paying the price now. I'm off them and having to face stress without a shield. I don't think meds are the answer. The Keys would help but I'm not leaving my kids with their mom lol.

That actually brings up what I was going to post as another topic - healing a fried central nervous system. I know exercise will make me feel better but each time I try it is like my CNS goes haywire. I went to the gym today and managed to do some light weight curls and triceps before it felt like things were short circuiting. Five years on benzos regulating every function and now that I am off, even good stress like lifting is viewed as an assault or my body doesn't know the appropriate response. Not sure if it is nerve related, adrenaline or cortisol, or what. Makes it hard to feel good when I can't even exercise to a degree that will help.

I am so sorry to hear that, GettingAnswers.

How about a very light work out? Even home-based exercises? It must suck not being able to exercise even if it is lightly. I would lose my mental health for sure.

Nelson, it does suck. The past few months I have only been able to exercise sporadically. I can walk but more exertion than that and I am fried. Forget about compound lifts or even pull ups and dips. Damn near sends me into convulsions. I try and keep it simple and know it is just a matter of healing but I am impatient. I turned 40 and periods of inactivity show up a whole lot faster now in the physique!!!!!!

Gettinganswers, it goes w/o saying that you should be working with a neurologist on this one. Sorry to hear what your going through. To all others, Dopamine has a far greater influence on how you feel than T. Obviously Dopamine is influenced by T but having been on a PRESCRIBED stimulant for 15+ years now I can tell you w/o a shadow of a doubt that your feeling of well being is more influenced by Dopamine and Norepinephrine.

Yes Gene the keys do help......if it were not for those small distractions of job, family home etc. I would be there full time and very relaxed.

That said many of us being type A and just to wound naturally and need desperately to tune down is there anything that can help other than opiates, benzates etc. until such time the Keys are a full time gig :)
