Specific Protocol for Needle Length IM

Is there a specific protocol for needle length when doing IM injections? I've seen things like it's based on the amount of bodyfat etc, but I haven't found any specific information. I know Nelson does 27g 1/2" in the delts.

I've been having someone else do them for me in the delts using 25 g and 1 inch. I was going to go on my own and do 5/8" into the delts, but I'm wondering if it's long enough or I should stick to the 1 inch.

I'm about 10.5% BF, and I'm attaching my shoulder pic if that will help. I work out 5-6 days a week and have some decent muscle definition.

Thanks.

You have more muscle than I do, and I use a 1/2 inch needle. Honestly, even if test cyp goes subq, it won't matter all that much. It still gets absorbed it just might give you a lump or a bit of redness I think.

The only difference I noticed when I switched from quads to delts was some initial soreness in each shoulder after the 1st 2 injections or so.

Thanks Sean. I've never done the quads, I've just had the glutes and delts done. I do have some slight soreness on the delts, but it's more from hey you just got pinned, like a flue shot type. I'm usually in the midst of a workout so it ends up going away pretty quickly. I'm looking at going with delts as my first go around of doing it on my own. Once I get comfortable, then I may play around with different sites. I like the ease and the ability to use the shorter needles of the delts.

IM and SQ, IMHO, are much less about one or the other or absorption and more about using a small needle like the very common almost standard 29g 1/2" syringe. Whatever you use to inject, 1", .5" or something else, is all going to work just fine. Comfort, is the only thing in play with smaller needles. My opinion.

One recommendation on pinning in the delts. Don't pin the delt if you had a shoulder work out earlier in the day. I've found that if I pin the body part that I previously worked that day I get a lot of blood after the pin, especially the delt.

Thanks Nelson. I ordered some 27 g 1/2" one's today too, and will give it a go. You have an awesome site here with a ton of information. I appreciate all that you bring to this site.
