What needle length for IM TRT? Thinking of changing from subQ to IM to feel better

I know @madman is from Canada and uses tiny insulin needles. Despite what your pharmacist says, I am sure that their word is not the end of it. Here in the US 100 insulin syringes cost about $11-15 mail order, no prescription required.

Perhaps Amazon? Amazon.ca

or: where to buy syringes over the counter alberta canada - Google Search

@madman posted another thread with a lot of information about needles. He also shared the site he uses. I was just looking at the site. I still have a couple of boxes of needles, and Syringes. I am currently injecting 1ml every 3.5 days, and have found the smaller 1ml syringes to be a pain when assuring everything has been injected. So would like to stick to 3ml syringes until such time as the TRT Dr adjusts my testosterone. But would like to get thinner shorter needles if possible. @madman posted a BD nurse guide for injections which shows the needle selection and I should be able to inject IM into my thigh with a shorter needle. But not really seeing what I am looking for for needles, would prefer to just buy a box of Lura-Lok needles 25G X 1" and see how they work.

DragonBits whats your injection time/rate, after the needle is in, with Test Cyp with the small gauge needles your using? 1ml per 5 seconds?

I am not sure, it's fairly quick, only 0.35 ml. I would say maybe 45 seconds.

I tried my deltoid, I thought it would be easy, but NO, it's a difficult angle and the "wings" on an insulin needle are tiny making it difficult to inject a thicker liquid at an angle. Just hard to push on the plunger.

Nebido / testosterone undecanoate on the other hand seems thicker and it is 4 ml, there wouldn't be any sort of insulin syringe with that sort of capacity and it's hard enough using 22 ga needle.

I inquired with my Pharmisist about change out to an insulin setup, and she said that would not be possible. The needles and Sryinges are on precription and I would have to have a special precription for a insulin needle which a doctor will not do because I'm not on insulin. I just can not walk into a medical depot and get needles and syringes, these things are controlled in Alberta. I will see if my new TRT specialist will prescribe something different.

Unless you are a penny pincher than syringes are easily obtainable online in the US and Canada if you look into it.

The cost of a box 100 fixed insulin syringes (27-31G) various needle lengths is fairly cheap although more expensive in Canada.

22-25G are also easy to come across if it suites your fancy.

No prescription needed if you know where to order from and your parcel is shipped discretely.

Depending on where you are injecting and body fat level you can easily hit shallow IM using a 5/8" needle length.

If you have 17-20 to spare you are all set 100 syringes.

Get your new doctor to switch out your Depo-Testosterone (cypionate) to Delatestryl (enanthate) as unfortunately in Canada they only use the Depo-Test (100 mg/ml) strength.

Delatestryl is 200mg/ml strength and this would allow you to inject a lower volume of oil.

Much quicker when drawing/injecting.

Most on trt are using the 1 ml or .5 ml insulin syringes an injecting shallow IM or sub-q.
