Opinions on lowering dose

Hello,
Based on my bloodwork, let me know what you would do in this situation. I’m about to drop my testosterone dose:

Current
120mg/week

New:
96mg/week

Too much info is missing, once weekly injections would see a large variation in hormone levels and lab timing would also be a big variable in your labs values.

The advice given on dosing would depend on the frequency at which you're injecting. Obliviously if you're injecting daily, the advice would be drastically different than if you were injecting once weekly.

Your free testosterone is 180% of the top of the reference range and you want to reduce by only 20%? A dose that mimics healthy natural levels is going to be more like 40-60 mg TC/week in your case. More is not better unless building muscle trumps all other health concerns. The forums provide the skewed perspective that 100+ mg TC/week is normal, when in fact it's way more testosterone than most men could produce naturally at their best. Be aware that if you drop the dose quickly then you can have some withdrawal symptoms that resolve over time.

40-60mg seems like such a low dose, though. My total T would probably be around 300-400 at that dose if I had to guess. Maybe Total doesn't matter so much. If I want to get everything lower, i'll probably have to though. 30 prolactin and 85 e2 means I have some improvements to look forward to.

If your free testosterone measurement is reasonably accurate then the implication is that the high androgen load has driven your SHBG to a low level. This in turn has reduced testosterone storage capacity, and thus total testosterone. Under these conditions total testosterone in isolation has little diagnostic value.

What would likely happen with a reduction to 60 mg TC/week is that your SHBG would rise to more normal levels. This means that total testosterone would not necessarily go down much. Regardless, free testosterone is the most important parameter, and is generally proportional to dose. Cutting it in half still puts you near top-of-range.

If you avoid more-is-better thinking then a dose range of 40-60 mg/week should not seem overly low—because it would give about half the male population more testosterone then they ever made naturally. I am in this group, needing only the equivalent of 44 mg TC/week to achieve robust free testosterone. Your numbers suggest that you are in this group too, getting more bang from your testosterone due to a below-average metabolic clearance rate.
