Lab results normal ?

Hi, I have recently been suffering from quite a bit of fatigue, and loss of stamina. I have lost most of my gains in the gym, and can't seem to make any progress. I am irritable, and have an obnoxious brain fog almost every day. So as you can imagine I am a blast to be around;). I recently had some lab work ran, and as far as the PA can tell things seem normal. She admitted that shes knows very little on the subject however, so I thought I would share it with the forum.

Total T - 620 ng/dl
Free T - 62.9 pg/ml
Bio available T - 134.8 ng/dl
SHBG - 47 nmol/L
Albumin - 4.7 g/dl

TSH - 1.08 mIU/L

Here are the ranges -
Total T 250-1100
Free T 46-224
Bio T 100-575
SHBG 10-50
Albumin 3.6-5.1

The only other test were Lipids, and a Metabolic Panel

As far as other symptoms go, I suffer from intermittent depression and a fair amount of anxiety. I have had gynecomastia since puberty. Anything else I don't think would be relevant.

Should have had your Estrogen tested, key marker that is definitely missing and your history of gyno. The correct test is of crucial importance...must be the LC/MS/MS test that is more suitable for males. Most Estrogen tests GPs give is the female version that over/under estimates in males.

Otherwise your Free/Bio T is rather low as shown by your high SHBG. You're Total T is pretty good.

When a health care professional admits they know little about a subject it is an indication that it's time to find another provider.

That's a serious observation. You deserve better.

At least they possess enough humility and intelligence to admit they don't know! That's a serious improvement over most when it comes to TRT. I'd actually respect him or her more for that!

I agree though, this is not the person you want to treat you, and that's fine.

Thanks for the input everybody. Although I dont really agree, my Doc believes that this is just depression. Before she will run any further testing she wants me to try Effexor. Im not real thrilled with the idea, but whatever it takes I guess.
