My daughter tried IVF last year (unsuccessfully) and has a few boxes of Menopur menopropins and Progesterone left over. Is this a brand name drug thats really HCG?
My doctor may put me on HCG soon and I was planning to bring them in to him ask him about this.
Does anyone know if this is the same as HCG?

At 54 I don't need the fertility part. I will ask the doc if it makes sense for me to start with this then switch to HCG in a couple months. Im not expecting him to approve though. Probably better to just go on HCG from the start

HCG “mimics” LH. When you are using exogenous testosterone you shut down both LH and FSH. FSH as far as we know is mostly related to fertility. LH has effects in other hormones. Hence the idea to replace it. So yes you could use Menopur instead of HCG with 2 caveats: it is much more expensive and both LH and FSH half lifes are much shorter than HCG

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
