Hard to say this without sounding like a conspiracy theorist, BUT... a population full of low testosterone, sedentary, often-ill beta males is significantly easier to govern than a population full of strong, healthy alphas. Add to that a pharma industry that 1) makes much more money off a sick population trying to get better with expensive medicines and 2) actively lobbies the government for their own monetary interests, and you've got a lot of people wanting to reduce this industry or remove it altogether.
