Advice needed

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and seeking some experienced advice. Around 19 years of age I had stroke in my left cerebellum. I knew something just wasn't right because I felt chronically ill for the next twenty years that followed. I was unable to build muscle, had no sex drive, no morning erections nothing. I kept going to the doctor for my heart palpitations, anxiety, low libido, no morning erections etc. They gave me Xanax, Viagra blah , blah. You're just a nervous guy. Finally after years of going to doctors, one of them tested me for Lyme disease; he also ordered an MRI and the stroke was diagnosed.

I received antibiotic treatment for what was 20 + years of chronic Lyme disease and slowly started healing. Another blood test revealed my T levels were blown out from the stroke and Lyme. My T was around 120 but my endocronologist wanted to order three more blood tests spaced three months apart. He told me he wanted me to start exercising also. In march he told me we would be moving forward with Testerone treatment in August, and that I would need to bring my wife in so she could help me with shots. I was very excited and started researching supplements and exercises. I wanted to get a head start on my health. Tire flips, sprints, squats, chopping wood and so on. Anything to build my T levels. I was 196 lbs 5/11 with high cholesterol. On my you-tube journey I discovered DHEA. So I started taking 200 mg First thing every morning.

By July I was 165 lbs, could throw a 55 pound tire over my head and do 30 pull ups with static holds. at 43 years old I had never been stronger or faster. My shoulders filled out, chest filled out and belly fat vanished. So before my visit my doctor calls me and tells me to take one more blood test before I come in. So I did and my t levels shot up to 495!. When he told me the results I almost fell out of my chair. He asked me if I had been using Testosterone. I told him I had been only taking 200 mg of DHEA first thing in the morning.

Long story short, after three low blood tests and one good one he didn't give me treatment.
He told me he would give me one more test because despite reaching 495 with DHEA and exercise I'm still not getting more erections or having a good sex drive. he told me to stop everything and that he wants my blood at static.

I'm sick of these doctors and this crap. I just want to feel better guys. I think I really need Testosterone. I feel the DHEA has proven that. I go back for a test in DECEMBER. I want to crash my T out before I do.

I was hoping I could get some advice on how to ensure my levels will be low enough when I go to test. I was thinking bad sleep habits, sugar, carbs and beer for a month or so. Do you guys think that would work?

I know cerebellum strokes can affect hormones, it's researched backed. I don't know why they're giving me a hard time.

If anyone read all this I appreciate it. Sorry for the long back story. I just really wanted you to know where the low T came from.

Don’t wait until December and go to a private clinic instead of jumping through hoops.

Or maybe that’s just me lol, I’m impatient and could never wait 7 MONTHS to get treatment.

I've thought about that actually. I have a few mens clinics around my area. If I get a script from a doctor at a clinic, and then needed to change doctors would most doctors continue your script for you?

That’s the way I did it, I started at a clinic then switched to a regular doc a year later. He let me just continue treatment after seeing my bloodwork.

Great! Thanks a lot. I'm going to look up the places in my area. Appreciate it.

Another possibility, get a blood test privately now and see what testosterone level you are at now. Don't give the local doctor as your doctor.

If below 264 or close to that, share the result with your local doc, maybe he goes with that, maybe he will retest right away. If still high, no need to share that with anyone.

You can't base decisions on only one blood test and any doctor will tell you that, but it seems like there is a double standard and the door doesn't swing both ways. If you are consistently low, then one high lab value is irrelevant.

I see a big problem here, I see the inactive portion of testosterone is the deciding factor here, your doctor needs to be testing the free portion of testosterone and SHBG levels to ascertain your FT levels using the Tru-T calculator.

The FT is the stuff that truly matters and if your SHBG is on the higher end, this would explain why you feel terrible at 495. This value would be optimal for me because I have low SHBG which means my TT is lower in relation to my FT which is higher.

So if your TT is 495 and FT is in the gutter, well then that's no good.

Hey man. Yea I've had several tests done. All of them were low side. When I started supplementing with DHEA my testosterone and free testerone shot waaaaay up. My first T test was below 200 after DHEA 495

Hi. Yea, all my levels were low for three test. After DHEA it shot waaay up. So free T and T went up. So now my doctor won't write me a script. I decided to call a clinic yesterday. I'm going to take them all my blood tests and see what the Doc says. I really feel like something weird is up with my current endocrinologist. He's telling me insurance is requiring a certain number of low tests in order to prescribe.

I'll stay a member here and be sure to update after I visit the mens health clinic. The doctor there seems really nice so I'll see how it goes.

Did you get any negative sides from the DHEA? What were your overall thoughts on it?
Hi! No none. I'm taking 200 mg a day. You have to take it as soon as you roll out of bed. Burns the fat right off while keeping muscle. Talked to my doctor about it last week and he told me to keep taking it cause it's really working for me.

I went to a mens clinic. You guy's were right. Doc said my testosterone is that of a 65 y/o man or worse. I start treatment on the 3rd! Thanks for the advice it was a huge help.

Make sure they don't force weekly office visits for your injections, weekly injection isn't optimal for everyone. Take me for example, I feel my best when injecting 7-10mg daily.

Insured healthcare is almost a scam.

what was your DHEA-S levels at ab draw?
and yes do daily, insulin needle 29G into deltoid. FYI doc probably will stop increasing your dosage once you are in normal, even if your symptoms persist.. keep that in mind with test lab draws..

Hello, thanks for the info. There really is so much I don't know about this stuff. The doc seems like he is saying all the right things to me thus far. I hope I'm not making a mistake going into this. I'm sure many guys start second guessing a few days out from their first shot. Anyways, my DHEA dose is 200MG first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up. Doc told me not to stop taking it. I must have been in serious adrenal fatigue after my Lyme disease and stroke because DHEA really helped speed up my healing process. It's absolutely amazing how powerful that dose was for me. Unfortunatly I'm not sure what my lab levels were at fro DHEA. I'm not scheduled to have that test till December.

They told me I could just buy my test from them for about 70 bucks and go home and do my injections or get it from my pharmacy. They'll check labs every 180 days. So I guess if I feel comfortable I could start splitting my dosses depending on how I feel.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
So 43 y/o 5'11 159. After three months of 200 mg DHEA first thing in the morning my T was 493 and free T was 80.9. Any experts think that's good enough to stay off T. The men's clinic Doc said it was too low and in the 65 y/o + range. Feel like I'm second guessing. I know this is going to be a commitment. I just wanna feel good and heal my body so damn bad.
