In my practice the SSRIs are second line therapy mainly because of their side-effect profile, these do work and they work well however they're not the easiest drug to use, patients do have significant side effects with these drugs, and feeling safe prescribing them is something that a lot of urologists and sexual medicine doctors don't really feel comfortable with
