Estrone serum

I had labs done the other day everything looked good. One thing I noticed that was high was my estrone serum—it was at a 70. My libido the last couple weeks has been really hit or miss. No morning wood at all. Good this be because of high estroserum?? My e2 though was 25.

Yes I do as a matter of fact! Weird how that’s high but my e2 was normal
This is consistent with most of the studies on DHEA supplementation: even at 400 mg/d estradiol wasn't changing, but estrone skyrocketed. The main caveat is that these test subjects were not on TRT, which potentially changes how hormones are regulated.

what is your view of estrone at 90 Cataceous? is it anything to be concerned with?

It sounds like it's not of major importance. I suggest skimming the Wiki article. My main takeaway is the statement that estrogenic activity of estrone is about 4% of that of estradiol. So assuming we're talking about pg/mL, then 90 pg/mL of estrone has less significance than 4 pg/mL of estradiol. I suppose guys with higher estrogen sensitivity might notice changes that are that small.

I have been told that it's not the estrogen effects of estrone that are concerning, it's the metabolites that Estrone breaks down into: 2,4 and 16 hydroxyestrone. 2 is thought to be cancer protective and the others are pro-cancer. DIM is supposed to favorably alter the balance of those metabolites.

Interesting info from @Cataceous that DHEA increases Estrone. I take 10mg DHEA twice daily and my Estrone was 87 at last bloodwork while E2 sensitive was 24.8. I'll stop taking DHEA then.

One last tip, my Dr. who is well regarded said that there is a new LC/MS Estrone test. He suggested to run this next time as the normal Labcorp Estrone test uses a lesser methodology.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
