TRT & sex drive

OK, I see that in your labs now. Your TSH is too high and you free T4 and free T3 are both in the lower half of the reference ranges. This is indicative of subclinical hypothyroidism. See if you can get your doc to prescribe some NDT.

The more this is discussed the more concerned I become. There are all sorts of problems with the care you are receiving. Please consider another doctor, at least for a second opinion. Defy and Prime Body are site sponsors and many members here are very satisfied.

You should not be testosterone, your thyroid needs help. Please find a real doctor, this guy shouldn't have a license to practice medicine.

To answer the original question, some people have the same or lower libido on trt. E2 is important in libidio and because there is a narrow range that most feel good it can be hard to get an AI dose right. Eod of it will almost always be too much. Trt protocol is usually 2 x a week but this caries.
Stopping the ai for a week or two should let it come up BUT e2 needs to be managed an kept an eye on.
Search for "trt honeymoon". Many are great the first 1-3 months and then things need to be managed.

Your TSH of 4.X is NOT good, you need a full panel, T4/T3/Reverse T3/Antibodies

This, plus what Vince said about your Adex dosage. You're crashing your E2...pretty sure this is what's killing your sex drive.

First off, I can't understand how your doctor can put you on a TRT protocol, given your pre-TRT levels. Secondly, he didn't even test your LH/FSH on your pre-TRT labs...WTF?

Like Vince, the first thing I zero'ed in on was your TSH level. Your thyroid needs to be investigated further. Dump this doctor, and get someone that knows what he's doing...call Defy Medical.

I've taken .5mg of arimidex in the past 7 days and I'm thinking of stopping the arimidex for a week then going on .25mg EOD, is that crazy?

A little bit. Don't have any plans right now, because you can't predict what's going to happen. It's impossible to assume you're going to need AI, especially since your sex drive was fine WITHOUT AI.

I believe this is the 46th reply to your initial post, an astonishing response. It's true that a number of us have posted multiple times, but your situation has elicited a lot of conversation. Over my time here at EM I have seen a number of unusual protocols, but you are the first member who started TRT with a pre-therapy testosterone level in the 700s. That, in and of itself, is a cause for concern. Your thyroid, another red-blinking light that is being ignored, and, finally, your use of an AI. The response of johndoesmith is on the mark: we can't assume you need anastrozole, and your persistent inclination to use it is puzzling in light of the fact that your complaint, a reduced libido, only surfaced after you initiated treatment with anastrozole.

Your doctor has brought you to a point that your health is being threatened by the course he has you on. It is time to step back and reconsider everything he has prescribed, or not prescribed, for you. A new doctor is essential.

Trying to grasp this...................so your pre-trt numbers were in the 700s and right off the bat your gp prescribed you 200mg test/week with 1mg AI eod due to low fatigue/energy knowing that your natural production will be shut down............no disrespect any chance you are self prescribing and looking for answers to your libido issues..............your gps methods are an accident waiting to happen!

Many other things can cause low energy/fatigue........thyroid/adrenal issues/bp/poor diet/lack sleep/mental issues/obesity/poor cardiovascular health think you need to investigate things further its your health.

nope, i'm totally on a doctors prescription...not sure what the rule of thumb is to prescribe TRT, but 758 ng/dL (348-1197) seems like it could be better...the 1mg arimidex EOD, is crazy...my E2 nearly crashed and yes my sex drive was DOA, but i'm managing it right now and it's way better just in the last couple days...

758 is an excellent natural testosterone level. You had almost no symptoms when you started TRT. Look, I'm not one to say a 450 or 400 level is great, but 700 truly is. I highly doubt any other member on here will disagree.

For what its worth, I just stopped Arimidex this week. One of the symptoms was popping and aching joints. Low sex drive and I think even penis retraction when flaccid was due to low E2. Recent labs helped in my decision.
But, wow, that Doc seems shady. I cant get an Insurance doctor to prescribe shots and Im legit low at 161. Out of curiosity, are you doing this for sports enhancement?

Probably 95% of us are paying out of pocket for proper TRT care. Its not terribly expensive and you have to consider it as an investment in your health.
