TriMix Question

I've used TriMix maybe 6 times now. 2 out of those 6 times it had zero effect. I'm guessing I just missed the mark. Everything I've read suggests using a 30g 1/2" needle but 1/2" just seems very long to me so I have only used a 5/16" needle. Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this?

I have recently started trimix as well. I'm on my 2nd vial. Maybe injected 20 times thus far.

With the 2nd vial, the pharmacy also included some 31g 5/16" syringes. I tried them twice and both times the trimix did not work.

I went back to the 29g 1/2" syringes i used for the first viral and everything was fine.

My perception is that the 5/16" didn't go deep enough.

I am only going to use 1/2" from now on. I usually have 29g 1/2" on hand for hcg/t injections so that's what I'm going to use for trimix as well.

I really didn't notice much difference between the 29g and 31g needles sizes.

I don't suppose you'd know the circumference of your flaccid penis would ya?

Is that the distance around (circumference) or the distance across (diameter)?

I'm what you might call a grower as opposed to a shower and it just seems like a 1/2 needle will go completely into the middle of my dick which seems too far.

1 1/2" I meant. Probably closer to 1 1/4".

My perception from my experience is that the trimix needs to be injected much closer to the center of the penis to work properly.

Both times I used the 5/16" needles I had almost no response.

My experience is limited, but I'm not planning on ever using 5/16" syringes again.

The 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" are diameters. Circumference would be 4-4.7".

I as a physician used to prescribe trimix. I recommend the B-D 1 ml or 100 unit syringe with a 31 gauge, 3/16” length (labeled ultrashort) needle. You should inject straight in and all the way at the 10:00 or 2:00 position near the base of the penis. The penis should be pulled or stretched out using fingers of your opposite hand before and during the injection process. Release the stretch and then remove the needle after competing the injection. Make sure not to inject any higher than 10:00/2:00 because at the top of the penile shaft run an important artery and nerve. Immediately after removing the needle place the alcohol pad over the injection site and then apply steady pressure there with your thumb for at least 2 minutes (for 5 minutes if on an anticoagulant or blood thinner). The stretch and the pressure are to minimize the risk of fibrosis or scar tissue formation. Both needles you have tried are too long. On the occasions that you didn’t get a good erectile response your technique had to have been incorrect. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you! Can you comment on the fact that probably 100% of doctors suggest a 1/2 inch needle? I'd love to understand the thinking.

I made an inadvertent error regarding my recommendation for the length of the needle. I meant to write 5/16” which is 8 mm. One consideration is the thickness of one’s penile shaft. If a patient is on the thicker side then a 1/2” needle should be fine. If the penile shaft is less thick or relatively thin, then I recommend the 5/16” or 8 mm length. When first infusing the medication, you should be able to push in the medication with ease. If any resistance is encountered then the needle is abutting a sheath of tissue that surrounds the erectile tissue called the tunica albuginia. In that instance just gently exert a little downward force on the syringe to make the needle penetrate more deeply and try again to push in the medication. If it then goes in with ease then you are in the erectile tissue. The danger of a 1/2” needle for a person with a not so thick penile shaft or a relatively thin one is the needle impacting the septum which separates the two erectile chambers. This should be avoided. As for probably 100% of doctors recommending a 1/2” needle for penile injections to treat ED, there is no way to know this in view of the thousands of doctors around the world who prescribe this therapy otherwise known as intracavernous pharmacotherapy or ICP. Many doctors in my experience prescribe an auto injector to facilitate these injections. In that case, a 1/2” needle is always recommended in my experience.

To clarify, roughly 100% of everything I have seen, including people and doctors on this forum, Defy Medical, and if you do a Google search I have yet to see anything other than a 1/2 inch needle recommended. It surprised me that I never see mention of penis thickness and 1/2 inch potentially being too long for many people. So I'm glad to hear that you have also prescribed 5/16.

Thanks for your comment. Penile injection therapy must be individualized as to the potency and dose of the formula due to differences in severity of ED and as to the needle length due to differences in penile shaft thickness. I worked part time for a multinational company which exclusively operates ED clinics where the vast majority of patients are prescribed penile injection therapy because they did not respond to oral medication, e.g. Viagra, Levitra, Cialis. I have treated thousands of patients with this therapy. I can only provide my best recommendation to the OP’s concern. Whatever one gleans via an internet search does not necessarily reflect the practice of physicians around the world who, like I did, specialize in penile injection therapy for ED. Most urologists do not prescribe this on a frequent or regular basis because it is very time consuming. Their major focus is on urological procedures and surgery.

When I inject, I push the needle in all the way to the plastic at either the 10 or 2 position.

I don't think the trimix gets into my erectile tissue unless i use the 1/2" needle.

My flacid penis tends to be on the smaller side but with lots of wrinkles. I use an insulin needle, 31g 5/16th. I push it in all the way in until the plastic syringe tip indents my penis a bit...mostly to ensure I have full pentration of the needle. Then I gently pull back the body of syringe just until the penis surface indent is gone. Then I inject and massage for 20-30 seconds. This seems to be 100% fool proof process for me.

Pressing very hard on the injection site and then “milking” your penis to distribute the liquid are key. 1/2 inch syringes tend to penetrate the corpora cavernosa better.
