Therapeutic Phlebotomy Places in the United States for Men on TRT

I Got a script for therapeutic phlebotomy and I went to three places (Lapcorp, hospital and uni blood donation center) and none would do it. I would donate but I just donated less than a month ago. Any suggestions?

Mine script has the frequency minimum written on it. Most places will mkae you wait 6weeks

Blood testing places won't do it. Why were you refused from the other places? What did they tell you? Im unsure if with a Phleb order you can donate any more frequently than 56 days which is the standard.

I donated two times took me a year to recover a 4 iron labs. I do not understand why people are obsessed with donating unless they a high hematocrit! I will NEVER donate again unless there is a major problem.

They are starting to get high. I would donate blood. I never liked reading my HCT run much above 51.
My HCT though did stabilize after 2 years of trt. I have not had to donate for over two years now.

I live in San Jose and spent hours on the phone and can’t find a place that does phlebotomy...

Can’t donate because I visit Brazil yearly and the area is marked as risk for malaria (ludicrous, but the CDC is paranoid...).

I can't donate either. But they will take your blood if your doctor calls in an order to the blood center near you. The order is good for two years.

REMEMBER: Once your hematocrit gets above 53, most blood donation centers turn you down. They test your hematocrit right before attempting to donate. Some of them will allow your blood to be taken out (your blood is discarded) but you need an order from your doctor to be called in or faxed to the blood center.

Check with your local medical centers (hospitals).
One of the medical centers here has a general population blood donation unit, and behind another door is a unit for those on hormone therapy.
All it took was for my doctor to put my name of their list, no hassle.

I ended up finding a mobile phlebotomist/lab that services the Bay Area but they're quite pricey and I suspect this will be a 2-3x/year thing for me.

My Kaiser doctor is not cooperative. His response is I should stop "this aggressive hormone treatment."

It's the 2nd Kaiser doctor that has refused to work with me because I do TRT with an out of state clinic. The first refused to even do a physical. I guess 3rd time's the charm?

Or I can try to see if Defy will call the blood bank for me.

What's your trt dose? Maybe sleep apnea / cpap therapy can lower your hematocrit some??

112mg Cyp/week (16mg daily).

I'm due for labs in about a month, haven't checked since I started CPAP. It's likely it will help some, but HCT has consistently gone up since I started TRT so I don't think apnea is the culprit.

CBC from defy is super cheap.. like $15 or $20 if I recall. You could just monitor it monthly to keep close watch. CPAP and minor dose reduction got my HCT lower that it was even pre TRT. (48 vs 51)
