Terrible soreness after subcutaneous testosterone injection

I have been using Intra Mus injection in the hip. Decided to try sub cu in the shoulder thinking it was less invasive. Now my shoulder is extremely sore on day 2 of this wondering what went wrong? I don't think there was any air... maybe a very small bubble... I did notice the Test Cyp was very hard to push in. I thought I was going to break the device. Its a 31 gage needle.

I’d recommend 29 gauge or larger. I use 29 gauge insulin syringes with 1/2” needle. I can use these in the delts, thigh, and ventrogluteal. I’ve subcutaneous a few times and always developed sore spots. I’m lean so the 1/2” work fine for IM.

That is why I go 90 degrees on shoulders, upper glutes/hip area, and even on quads using a 27 gauge 1/2 inch. It minimizes redness, soreness, and even burning that may be experienced with injections under the skin.
