I have developed calcium deficiency supplementing vitamin D, the higher the dose, the worse the deficiency. I'm trying to figure out how to solve this without having to supplement calcium which is a big no no!
Without calcium supplement, vitamin D causes excess urination which leads to excessive calcium excretion as seen in my 24 hour urinary calcium lab test. This happens on, off carnivore diet, so we can rule it out. Strangely these symptoms of calcium loss have always occurred shorty after raising my ferritin from a deficiency.
The higher the ferritin, the greater the calcium loss.
This excessive urination, sharp painful muscle spasms and cramps, confusion, brain fog, fatigue and extreme sleepiness symptoms have completely reversed taking 250 mg calcium. The mental as well as physical benefits which disappeared wees ago have now returned.
I don't even know where to begin to address the cause as I've never heard of anything remotely similar on any forum.
Also, when I decrease the vitamin D dose or stop the vitamin D, for a 3-4 days my muscles get really hard, erection very hard and I become stronger than on TRT and feel like I have high testosterone, not on TRT at the moment.
Then I return to somewhat soft muscles and feel like I did pre diabetes diagnosis 10 years ago. Within 1-2 days back on vitamin D supplements muscles are somewhat hard again and feel closer to normal. On sustained vitamin D and calcium, I still feel pretty good. I had these same issues on TRT. I'm almost fully recovered, I'm so close.
Vitamin D dosage @ 2000 IU which gets me 37 level. I've tried 3000-4000, I felt better at the 4000 dosage until the calcium issue. Afterwards even the 800 IU dosage felt similar to the higher doses even with vitamin D low.
