About a year ago, I felt like crap & could hardly hold my fork up to my mouth to eat Christmas dinner. I wasn't impressed with my own doctor so I went to a well known Naturpath who did my blood work. When we got the blood work back she determined that my thyroid was off & my T was low & I was put on Trochies & Tapazole. Long story short of it is that I don't think she really knew what she was doing with the testosterone therapy & left me unmonitored. I had another blood test months later & my Total T was 1500 & I still felt like crap & had no energy.

So I started going to an Endo & he put me on shots, but I dont care for needles & my wife would pin me & hit a nerve in my leg once that was all it took to put me on gels. I am still fighting fatigue constantly when everyone tells me my labs look perfect, I know something is wrong & I think very strongly that its still my thyroid, but finding an Endo who treats symptoms & not just goes by ranges is near impossible to find. So here I am completely frustrated by all this shit I have been dealing with for over a year & not feeling any better. Brain fog, impaired vision are the worst symptoms & I have been to 3 different eye specialists who find nothing wrong with my eyes. I have seen 3 different psychiatrists because my own PCP said he thinks its all in my head & they said no there is no depression but I have alot of anxiety from trying to figure out what is going on with me & prescribed me a low dose of Klonopin to help with the anxiety. Meanwhile I just feel like crap, tired all the time. I am 47 years old 185 lbs & have no stress but autoimmune disease runs in my family history, my mom had RA & Grandmother died of Parkinsons. My wife said I just need to be patient & wait for the other shoe to drop to see what is going on with me. It's very tough just waiting, I was hoping the testosterone would help & I think it does with giving me the boost of energy but it has not fixed whatever is wrong, just gives me the energy to keep moving. I am or used to be very active, I played racquetball 2-3 days a week & went to the gym but now I just ride mountain bikes in the hills for my workouts which absolutely kicks my ass.

So I was getting frustrated & my old endo retired & I found a new one who ran labs on me they looked like this, I was dissapointed he didnt run a T3 with the other labs. So with that frustration I just said screw it & I dropped the T for one week which I thoroughly regret now.

These were taken 2 weeks ago.
Prolactin 5.47 (2.5-17.0)
Testosterone 319.0 (200-810 ng/dl)
SHBG 47.1 (13.7-71.0)
FAI 23.5 (14.8-94.8 nmol/L)
DHEA-SO4 173 (80-560 ug/dl)
Cortisol 14.70 (5.0-25.0 ug/dl)
ACTH 19.90 (0-46 pg/ml)

TSH 0.478 (0.4-4.5 uIU/ml)
T4, free 1.27 (0.8-1.8 ng/dL)
ATA/ATPO 11.10 <35.0 IU/ml)
ATG <20 (<20.0 IU/ML)

Below are my original labs back in 12/20/2012 when they prescribed tapazole & testosterone supplement. This is when I could barely function, I could hardly hold a fork up to my mouth & had absolutely no energy. This came on so fast & went from feeling 100% to 10% in a matter of a month.

Free T3 3.1 (2.4-3.9) pg/ml
Free T4 1.1 (0.58-1.64) ng/dl
TSH 0.26 (0.34-5.60) microIU/ml
Free Testosterone 3.3 (9-36) ng/dl
Total Testosterone 176 (240-950) ng/dl

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Well Kurt, your labs are somewhat limited but your total Testosterone serum levels are low; besides that everything looks okay.

I don't see two critical labs: 1) Free Testosterone and 2) Estrogen.

Would have liked to have seen a diabetes workup as well as DHT and Progesterone labs.

Cortisol looks fine so I don't think Renal Fatigue.

Regarding Thyroid, while the labs look fine I'd like to see Reverse T3. Sometimes Thyroid labs look good till you look at RT3 and it tells a completely different story.

If you are still using a Testosterone transdermal application now when you took these labs, it's not working.

You can inject Testosterone subcutaneously as well which is much less painful and very effective.

I hear your pain and frustration but don't give up; you will find a solution to your condition.

Thanks for your response, my Dr. as of yesterday put me on a low dose of Synthroid because he said my thyroid labs while being in range I am in the low range & wants to see if it helps my symptoms. Unfortunantely for me ranges & tests don't show well in me, I had an appendectomy 2 years ago & my white blood count which is supposed to go high while encountering an appenctomy situation never changed & they almost wouldn't do it. They finally did & that was exactly what it was, my appendix was infected. So as I said my chemical makeup doesn't always show whats going on.

The Sub subcutaneous might be something to look into, I have pinned myself & split shot twice a week in the past until I hit a nerve in my leg & just about went thru the wall LOL, the only thing I can say about the Androgel is I feel more even with out having the drop. But like your comment said, it might not be getting me to where I need to be. I have contacted a compounding pharmacy that makes different strengths of gels & they are making me a batch & $30/mo opposed to $300/mo for androgel is a big plus. My wife was getting ready to cut my nuts off at $300/mo LOL

Thanks,
Kurt
