As a newbie here it's a little disconcerting to see people having negative issues/side effects with TRT, HCG...I rarely see guys posting about their smooth sailing with TRT. Is it likely these guys just don't post as much as the guys having negative issues? I'd be interested to know how many guys had complications with TRT initially, but then resolved them completely with no more issues. Or even, how many/% guys never had complications with TRT. I'm probably being naïve hoping for TRT without any complications, or am I? Just a little scary. Thanks.:)

Defy Medical TRT clinic doctor
Guys that find a knowledgeable doctor on the first try never have a need to seek help on a forum, maybe once in a blue moon they will come here for nutritional advice or maybe a oxide stack to improve their workout potential.

I sought out these forums because it was obvious none of my doctors knew anything about TRT. TRT isn't like trying out an SSRI a doctor has given you and seeing if it works, protocols must be tailored to the individual and insurance doctors don't have the time to do it.

TRT and insurance is like mixing oil with water, it doesn't mix well.

What Systemlord said............the guys who are doing well most likely never post here or other places.
It's the guys who've been poorly treated and monitored who come here the most seeking advice.
There are also those of us who are dialed in and just thoroughly enjoy the topic in general and learning more about it.

The only negative issue I had was donating blood every 8 weeks, I just got tired of it. Finally after 2 years my HCT stabilize and I no longer have to donate. Yippee!

What you'll find on the forum(s) are a lot of complainers, if you will. You rarely encounter the guys that are cruising along just fine and that's because they come here for that support. The guys that are doing well are usually the ones guiding most of the discussion. So, there can be some perception of TRT problems being high but I would dispute that.

There are many of us that are on here and doin’ well on TRT. I struggled initially with a doctor that was clueless. Got on this site, learned a ton, started working with Defy...all is very well. I may not post a lot, but definitely check in for information and search for applicable knowledge, as I continue to improve my well being. It is a process that takes commitment and patience.

I personally have been on Testosterone for a year. Feel great and have since the beginning. I did do a lot of research before starting testosterone and I think thats important as you want to make sure you are doing it right and for the right reasons. In addition to many guys simply going to a doctor who knows nothing about testosterone, I think there are a lot of guys who have a bunch of other problems that are not related to low testosterone so starting TRT doesn't help them.

Roguejim,

My only negative issue has been uninformed medical care providers and high hematocrit.

The benefits have been... huge!

Six months or so before getting on TRT. I climbed to half dome in Yosemite with some friends. It was awful, because I had degenerated so much. I thought I was going to die. Granted, these were all pretty fit people (personal trainers etc.), but I'd never had trouble keeping up on hikes before and am usually up front. I looked so bad one friend took me aside and said, "there's no shame if you have to stop." That was a little over half way up. I made it to the top, but seriously thought I might have a heart attack, or collapse.

Fast forward about a year. The same group (plus a few other new ones who are super fit too.) got together to climb South Sister near Bend. Everyone said it was harder than the Yosemite hike. I had no trouble. Together with one other friend I reached the top way ahead of the group. About three quarters of the way back down I felt so good I started to run. One friend who's a gym rat and teaches fitness classes said to my wife (she'd seen me at Yosemite), "I want some of what he's taking!" Another friend who runs half marathons regularly said to my wife, "Why... is he... running?" My wife said, "He's felt really bad for a few years now and he's figured out what was wrong and he feels really good!"

Oh, and, there's the whole sexual function thingy...

I am into my 3rd year on TRT and zero complications, I am also on Testogel, not injections and the gel works very well for me, it also works in a more natural way to your bodies production than the full on 24/7 boost of testosterone that injections give.
.
Also, I only use the gel, nothing else, you read on this forum of people taking other medications with it, constantly checking bloods and constantly altering meds, you also read of people starting TRT without medical advise which to me is insane.
.
No complications and the bonus of a healthier fitter life, I have also reduced alcohol consumption which is a great feat for someone from Scotland.

I hope you haven't sworn off the Wee Heavys altogether.:(

In my case, as it is for so many, the one, significant factor that impeded progress was lack of knowledge on the part of the first physician I consulted. Once I connected with my current doctor, it's been a smooth trip.

I had negatives from the first place I tried so i searched out info and found a different place. After learning a lot here I realized the second place was clueless too. Luckily from being here I heard about Defy and just recently joined them.

i stopped responding to trt after anastrozole overdose.. my best after e2 crash was hot flashes, low libido, fatigue and dry ****.. maybe i will have more success with natural testosterone because i tried everything to make trt work - hcg, dhea, pregnenolone, 80mg weekly, 200mg weekly... either i feel like i am in male menopause on it or like bipolar person super emotional mood swings
wasted 3 years to make it work I could already restarted my ass many times during this time
some start trt and in few weeks they feel best they ever felt but usually it stops and they feel less "great" because "honeymoon" period is over. most require some tweaks to their protocol. I think it's impossible to feel great all the time unless you are on steroids but in that case you will die young

Hi Jim welcome to the forums. It really depends on the doctor or clinic you pick they came bring you back to the living or introduce you to hell on earth.
I feel pretty lucky I was only in hell for about 6 months. For the last 12 I have returned to the living.

I'm 56. Been on TRT for three years. No problems or concerns. I'm dialed in and loving life.[/QUOTE

64, on 2 years and doing great. I think that too many guys start with HCG and an AI right from the start and this complicates the situation. Dialing in one thing is certainly easier that trying to juggle a lot of variables. My clinic is Abraham Morgantaler’s and their protocols are simple until you are symptomatic. I also think that an older guy may have an easier time getting dialed in, but have no proof to back it up. Of course diet and exercise are underestimated by a lot of guys as well.

Interesting observation about older guys dialing in easier. I started with an AI and hcg from day one. I also jumped on dhea from the beginning. I guess I got lucky finding the T nation forum before I started.
