Need help with injection schedule

I have been prescribed Testosterone Cyp. 200mg. My directions are 1cc every two weeks. I have read that once every week is a better schedule. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I assume you mean you're to inject 200mg/every two weeks? If that's the case, you're not going to be a happy fellow. Gene has pointed out, to me and others, that testosterone's peak and half-life are such that there isn't going to much of the drug left in your system as the second week comes to an end. You're likely to be feeling pretty rocky if you follow that protocol. A weekly injection of 100mg is pretty standard, and more and more of us are injecting slightly lesser amounts even more frequently (I moved to 60mg every three-and-a-half days in the late winter).

It seems your doctor simply isn't up to date on treating men dealing with low testosterone. Don't be surprised: most of us on this forum had a difficult time finding a physician who understood what was required. What labs did your doctor pull prior to issuing the prescription?

Originally he just checked my Testosterone levels. He had me on clomid for a while but it wasn't doing much. He monitored my T levels and Estradiol during this time.

Having a PSA run for reference is considered good medicine. Certainly, on a go-forward basis, you're prostate needs to be monitored. Without a baseline prior to beginning treatment, how will that be done? Was that mentioned???

I want to say he checked it and said it was good but I couldn't say for sure. I'll be sure to ask next time. I'm 32 years old too, if that means anything.

Split your dose into 100 mg (.5 ml) once a week. It's the same amount prescribed but will provide for better consistent serum levels, reduce the risk of elevated E2 and unseat you from a hormonal roller coaster.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
