Low Test Levels & Lingering Symptoms at 24 After Teen Cycle —Clomid/Enclomiphene Worth Trying?

Hey guys, I’m 24 (turning 25 in July) and just got some blood work done that’s got me concerned. I’ve been training in the gym since I was 15, though lately I’ve been more on and off with my routine. I’m around 5'8" and 170 lbs, and my bench press has been hovering around 225 lbs for years. I don’t have a good benchmark for squats and deadlifts since I suffered a back injury as a teenager during deadlifts, so those lifts are tough for me to do. When I gain weight, the fat tends to go to more feminine areas like my stomach, ass, and thighs, but my arm vascularity is pretty decent—especially when I’m lean. My diet is usually on point—eggs, beef, protein shakes, some greens, and blueberries.

I’ve got a bit of gynecomastia from puberty, and while I can get really lean and maintain my current muscle, I can’t seem to get much bigger muscle-wise. Back when I was 17-18, I ran a cycle with Anavar, Clen, DNP, and Nolvadex. After that cycle ended, I went through an intense two years of depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

Those issues have since improved but still linger to a lesser degree. I also don’t have strong desires to masturbate or chase women—I haven’t tried in years, and it feels wrong to me. I’m worried that cycle might still be affecting me. Here are my recent results from two draws:

May 15, 2025 (2pm draw):
  • Sex Hormone Binding Glob: 32 nmol/L
  • Estradiol: 66 pmol/L
  • Free Testosterone: 202 pmol/L
  • Testosterone: 9.9 nmol/L

May 24, 2025 (9:30am draw):
  • Free Testosterone: 353 pmol/L
  • Testo Bioavailable Calc: 8.3 nmol/L
  • TSH: 1.78 mIU/L
  • T4 Free: 15 pmol/L
  • Estradiol: 92 pmol/L

I’m noticing my free test and estradiol levels vary between the draws, and I’m not sure if this is normal or if my past cycle is still causing issues—maybe even tied to my mental health struggles, gynecomastia, or lack of sexual drive. I’m really concerned about how low my levels are, especially since I still have these symptoms. I tried Finasteride at 22, and it gave me sides like worse gyno, ED, watery semen, and testicular ache. I spoke with an endo, but he just ordered blood work and didn’t follow up after seeing the results. Now I’m wondering if something like Clomid or Enclomiphene could be worth considering to help with my levels.

Any thoughts on these numbers? Should I be worried about long-term effects from those compounds, especially given my training, diet, mental health, and physical history? Appreciate any advice.

First, I would say that yes, clomid/enclomiphene at a low dose (e.g. 12mg every other day to start) seems like a low risk thing to try that might help, however equally important is that you are not doing other things that could cause your symptoms. Ultra-low-carb is likely not a great idea in your situation, so somewhere in the 150-300 grams per day seems reasonable. Poor sleep could be an issue. Doing a nutrient hair test would make sense. I would guess your issues are far more likely to have been created by the finasteride, unless you really went overboard with the anavar, but what matters is what you do going forward. You may also want to consider experimenting with DHEA.
