Jerry Brainum on Creatine and Muscle

Nice video. On a side note, while I'm not disagreeing with the premise of Jerry's information, the name of the blood test is creatinine, not creatine. Creatinine is a chemical waste product of creatine

Creatine may increase muscle mass and strength through an additional mechanism and not just by increasing the amount of energy-generating phosphate groups in the muscles. According to sports scientists at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, creatine increases the amount of the androgenic testosterone metabolite DHT [structural formula also shown below] in the muscles. The researchers report this in the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
