My Dr. ordered me 1ml 31g x 5/16in syringes for intramuscal infections. Is this needle tip too small for intramuscular injections or is it long enough? Haven't used them yet but seems kind of short.
I hope you are using a smaller gauge (means larger bore) for loading your syringe something like an 18g. If not, it will take you forever to load your syringe.
I inject IM with a 27g and it's small and never ever hurts but does take some pushing on the plunger to get it in...which I am okay with.
Your 31 is going to be a bear to push the ester into yourself either IM or SQ.
May want to talk to your Doc about a 25g or 27g to inject and at least a 18g to draw.
18g to draw from the vial will break your rubber stopper quite easily. 22g is what I would prefer and what most people use to avoid damaging the rubber stopper and keeping that seal integrity.
Warming the 31g insulin barrel under hot water will decrease viscosity thus you require less force to inject.
