How do I find a primary care physician who is well educated on TRT? *I don’t have a doctor yet*

So I don’t have a family doctor. If I get really sick I just take my butt to an immediate care clinic. After receiving my blood work for the first time I can remember in 30 years, I’d like to find a local primary care physician while I work with Defy who I can go to for things outside of their scope (phlebotomies, cardiovascular stuff, physicals, etc)..

Do I just schedule an appointment , go in to meet them see if we gel, then show them my blood panel paperwork explaining what I said above?

Reading a lot of posts from this forum has me jaded, believing 99% of doctors are either in it for the money (prescribing pellets and gel), prehistoric (500mg monthly), or just scared (telling me my 275ng/ml TT is normal for a guy at 30)..

My out of pocket deductible is pretty high and I’m not sure what the first meeting with a new prospective doctor entails. What should I do?

A primary care doctor who is well educated in TRT, no way. However Defy doesn't take insurance, most experience TRT specialists do not. Your insurance might cover the cost of labs, medicine is minimal costs.

Why not just work with Defy directly?

I plan to. But I don’t have a personal doctor whom I have history with. Never have. Figure most people have “their” doctor to go to, and if I had my choice they’d be well versed in TRT. Regardless of their views I’d of course let them know of what I’m doing outside of their office..but for instance what if I need to donate blood in the form of a phlebotomy? Get referred to a specialist for something else? Talk to about anxiety, depression, I don’t know. I just hate going to Immediate care facilities sometimes. I feel like cattle in a meat shop. Figure if I had my own doc it would be a better, more personalized experience. Of course I’d bring this stuff up to the Defy staff as well, just something I thought about since Defy wants you to have a local doctor as well.

We can issue prescriptions for a therapeutic phlebotomy if medically warranted.

To be honest, I've had trouble finding a PCP that's familiar with TRT, often when I've seen other doctors for things not related to TRT I'm met with the same resistance. Only had one doctor that wasn't, and he was a GI. He was very interested in what I do, but admittedly knew nothing about TRT.
