New Member
I've been on TRT for several years without much success. Recently, I began injectionss (200 mg per week). Again, no major improvement. I am also hypothyroid. My thyroid level is currently high, but lowering the dosage left me exhausted and 5 lbs heavier after one month.
I likely need to find a new, better educated physician. Below are test results from everything he has ordered so far. From what I've read here, he should have ordered the ultra-sensitive Estradiol test.
My testosterone levels are still too low, and I have all the classic symptoms of low T and hypothroidism. Interestingly and disconcertingly, I've begun having weak erections and an insensitive penis after starting injections. I've been doing injections for 14 weeks now.
I'll be reading up and look forward to educating myself. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Welcome to EM, glad you joined!!

Something isn't adding up if you're taking 200mg/wk of test cyp and your serum results are 248ng/dl. Unless this is prior to treatment on injections, something is amiss! Possibly the medication has gone bunk?? Maybe get a new script, try breaking up your injections 2x week, then run labs again.

On the thyroid ... Where are the labs? I see a Total T4 serum and the morbid uptake and index labs, but what about Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3? .. Were your original antibodies labs (TPO &TgAb) in the lower range or is your hypothyroidism autoimmune related? Can you elaborate on your thyroid medication protocol?

These are the most recent recent labs I have. My GP prescribes my levothyroxine (.137). The last TSH he ran was almost identical to these numbers. From what I've already read on the forums, I know I need to have more thorough testing done. I have an appointment with a new endocrinologist but won't get in for three weeks. Besides what you already mentioned (Free T4, Free T3, and Reverse T3), what other tests would you recommend? Also, my hypothyroidism is not auto-immune related.

Re the testosterone: these labs were run after ten weeks of in-office injections, so the testosterone should be good. I am now injecting at home. Something is definitely amiss and I don't care for it. It's past time I educated myself and found a better physician to work with. I am looking forward to learning all I can from this site and the forums. Thanks for the help you've already given me.

Millicent,

If you don't mind, please give the T vial a read and share exactly what's written on it. Did it come from a pharmacy or directly from the doc?

My current vial came from the pharmacy. I don't know where my physician gets his. The labs posted above are after receiving IM injections at his office for 10 weeks.

The he vial reads as follows:
Testosterone Cypionate Injection USP
2,000 mg/10 ml
(200 mg/ml)
Directions: "Inject 1 ml in the muscle once a week."
Manufacturer: Watson

Mil, what's the expiration date on this? If you were going to the physician's office for injections, maybe he was pulling from a bottle that's been sitting on his shelf for a year, and sitting right under the light all day?? I don't know, just grabbing air for answers. Watson is the real deal, but it's shelf life is no different than any compounded test.

Maybe getting the NEW physician idea is the best route ... Get started with a fresh bottle of cyp, HCG, get E2 reviewed properly and administer AI (if needed). The treatments will work, we just need to find what the missing link is here!!

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
Update: while waiting for my appointment with a new endo., my current prescriber upped me to 300 mg per week split twice a week (150 mg on Mondays and Fridays). I am hoping the additional 100 mg a week will be helpful in the interim.
