Free T question

While on TRT, I've noticed my free T levels can be in the 190s 230s on a scale of 30-150. It even reached 325 once. Is that OK?

Everything I've read says that you want a high amount of bio available free T.

Free testosterone can be a notoriously tricky value to report. There is a great deal of discussion as to which method of determining the accurate level. I have had wildly different free-t lab values.

Vince,

My SHGB usually runs in the high teens and low 20s. So I've haven't had much issue with my Free T counts being low.

Nelson, what do you mean when you say am I using any other compounds? I do twice weekly injections, I have sporadically used anastrozole, no HCG.

You have low SHBG. I do as well, and guys like us typically always have high Free T. It is not harmful, but with most low SHBG guys, it is not as helpful as one might imagine, either.

The reason I ask if you are taking another compound (like an oral T booster or anabolic steroid) is that anabolics can decrease SHBG. So can high insulin.

Nelson, no I do not take any other compound. I've never injected anything else into body before TRT. No other health problems.

I read the injection protocol for Low SHBG. My SHBG pretty much stays between 17-23 irregardless of dosage or whether I did once weekly or twice weekly.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
