Hi,

I've recently got my bloods done for my total testosterone level and my Estrodial level.
These were my results.
Gender = Male
Age.26
I am not on any type of TRT, nor have I ever used steroids
Total T = 22.4nmol/l
Estradiol = 42pg/ml

My doctor told me that they had no reference ranges for the Estradiol. I know that my Total T is healthy, however from reading about Estradiol references ranges there seems to be a lot of different ranges. Such as 10-40pg/ml and 10-82pg/ml.
Could someone with knowledge on this explain to me if my Estradiol levels are healthy?
Would these levels ever affect erectile function?
Are my levels healthy regards to Testosterone:Estradiol Ratio?

I suffer from anxiety so this is just something i am worrying about, and I would just like to get a different perspective on this. Thanks

My understanding is that it all come down to which test was actually run. All e2 tests are not created equal.

Your tests indicate that you are outside the US. Because of that, you will have almost zero chance of having access to the sensitive test. That is the harsh reality of the situation. There are no ranges because there are no ranges established for men who measure E2 on the standard assay. I have seen this from members in the UK, Canaada, Australia, and Ireland. The methodology simply has not caught up with the need in most of the world.

That said, your standard score of 42 is *probably* not causing you any problems. You didn't report how you feel, which is as important as any lab result - so, how are you feeling? Why are you anxious?

Thanks for the reply,

Yes I am from Ireland, and thats a bummer.. We'll I suffer from OCD and lately I am kind of obsessing about the hardness of my erections worrying if they are not hard enough etc. like i get a 9/10 erection, when needed. I am just trying to figure out is my problem psychological or physical.
Can an estradiol level at 42 have an effect on erections, or would it need to be much higher to affect that?
As I heard higher estradiol levels are associated with higher libido!

Thanks D

D, you're young for ED. Maybe it's from worry, you could supplement with zinc. I use Jarrow zinc balance, it will help you lower your E-2. Cialis will also help your estrogen levels and may help your self confidence.

Estradiol is a tricky thing. Too high - libido and erectile problems. Too low - serious health problems, including erectile issues and loss of libido. Your e2 of 42, standard test, is, as I noted, unlikely to be "high." You get erections, as you noted, so I presume you can enjoy intercourse; am I right? What brought you to your doctor?

CW,

Yeah very true, I just watched nelsons video on Estradiol and he said that the standard test over estimates it, so it could probably be lower. He also said that the reference range is to be between 20-50. Well thats the problem I have sexual performance anxiety with the last while, so its hard to tell :/ ... I approached my doctor due to the performance anxiety, and I've kinda got obsessed with the whole thing, worrying is there actually something physiologically wrong.
I read on peak testosterone that your testosterone:estradiol ratio should be between 20 and 30.. my ratio would be around 15, I assume thats healthy? Especially if the standard test over estimates my values.

I also have no breast tissue, I am relatively lean and muscular.

Ratios and specific numbers are guides for you and your doctor. To consider them in isolation, to not attend to how you actually feel is an invitation to madness. Guys can - and do - spend countless hours focusing on a calculation; your values are good. With all the respect in the world, if you do feel well but can't quit worrying about a lab value, I would urge you to consider a course of cognitive therapy. I don't mean to diminish your concern, but if all is well in terms of performance, the chances that something is "wrong" are very, very small -particularly given your age. Watch and test when necessary, but live your life. All the best.

Yes, I was thinking that myself, it most likely is a type of mental cognition which I need to change. I will look into that. Thanks again for your input Coast Watcher.
