I can't speak to the physics, but IMO the best model for aging is that the body tries to kill itself, and depletion of hormones may be one way to do that, so centenarians have clearly escaped that for a while but that does not mean that low T is beneficial for longevity, although it may mean that very high T is harmful. This also does not address exception conditions like injury recovery.
