Dosages

I was curious to know if there is a general dosage for T based on age. I am 41 and my levels are on the low end of normal according to bloodwork. I have 250mg/1ml ampules.

No. What I mostly see is younger men need lower doses. The reason behind it is when you were at your peak. What was your T level at. Most younger men had lower levels when they were at their peak. Older men had higher levels when they were at their peak, so now the older men need higher levels to feel good.

I say would say a good starting dose would be 50 mg of T and 500 IU of HCG combined in the same syringe. My understanding is that's @Nelson Vergel protocol. Here's mine. I just had Labs done yesterday will post when available.

I never had my T levels checked in my 30s, but now that my levels are low, I am trying to see what a good weekly/biweekly dosage would be.
As other threads have discussed, the dosage to reach a particular blood level can vary from person to person, so there is a degree of experimentation involved. I agree with Vince that starting low and adjusting up after a couple of months if your symptoms dictate is a good approach. What symptoms are you trying to improve? TRT is often a complicated process and some symptoms can be addressed through simpler means.

Standard starting dose is 100 mg T/week or 50 mg T (every 3.5 days).

Most men on therapy are injecting 100-200 mg T/week whether once weekly or split into more frequent injections as in twice-weekly, M/W/F, EOD or daily.

The majority of men can easily hit a healthy let alone high trough FT injecting 100-150 mg T/week especially when split into more frequent injections.

There are even some men who can achieve stellar levels injecting <100 mg/week.

You will always have some outliers who may need the higher-end dose 200 mg/week but it is FAR from COMMON as in RARE!

Such dose would have the majority easily OVERMEDICATED!

Always best to start low and slow on a T only protocol as we want to see how your body reacts to testosterone let alone where said protocol (dose of T/injection frequency) will have your trough TT and more importantly FT, estradiol and other critical blood markers (RBCs, hemoglobin and hematocrit).

There will always be time to increase your dose or throw in hCG if need be.

Bad move starting out on T + hCG because you will never know how your body reacts to T only let alone where your numbers will fall on said dose/injection frequency and to top it off if you run into any issues you will have a hard time teasing things out.

No harm in leaving out the hCG for a few months.

Blood work will be done 6 weeks in after levels have stabilized.

You always want to test at the true trough (lowest point) before your next injection.

Bottom line patience is key here!

Joke!

Lots of older men will do just fine without needing to hit high levels!

Far from a given that younger men need lower doses.

The majority of men would easily hit a healthy let alone high trough FT injecting 100-150 mg T/week.

Trial and error to see where you end up!

Again need to pay attention to trough/injection frequency.

Big difference between one hitting a high-end/high trough FT injecting daily vs twice-weekly vs once weekly!

Exactly we are all different and need different levels. You should read Florence's book I think you would find it very interesting and educational.

Constant fatigue regardless of how often I go to the gym or how often/how much I sleep. Bloodwork showed all my levels are optimal except T. Been this way for a couple years.

Hmmm. A brief experiment with a form of T that leaves your system quickly might be fine as an experiment, however that sounds like some sort of infection or nutrient issue. Have you been to a holistic doc who specializes in fatigue? Lyme disease is very tricky to diagnose but could cause that, as could mold exposure and probably lots of other things I've forgotten about. Your T could be contributing but it could also be a result of your problem rather than the cause of it. Have you been checked for sleep apnea? Are you on some sort of extreme diet? Are you getting consistent quality sun exposure?
