Hello new to the site, trying to understand TRT. I am 53 we to my urologist he is good at break fix stuff like prostate cancer etc. But is not very interested in my low testosterone level of 260. Free testosterone is 5.6. However he did offer to administer it after I mentioned Defy.

Waiting on full labs now and then doing a consultation with the doctor.

I still have a lot to learn.

Good for you for getting started! My 2-cents, stay with your doc for "regular" stuff, go wth Defy if you want TRT that works. Seriously, a urologist that is not interested in a T level of 260 is a HUGE red-flag.

Welcome to EM, glad you joined! Agree with ERO .. Not good when any doctor feels content with a male having a 260ng/dl level!! They just don't get it, and unfortunately many have the mindset that their knowledge has peaked, thus refusing to ascertain modern treatments administered in the A4M communities & specialty clinics.

By all means, consider another medical professional for your TRT protocol. You are likely to find yourself dragging your local urologist along - educating him as the process unfolds.

Another question I have made some attempts to bring get testosterone in line with nutrients and lifestyle things such as vitamin D,vitamin A,iodine, magnesium, DHA, calcium citrate, zinc, brazil nuts, clean meats amd cheeses, cutting out soy and soy products, excercise, boxing and lifting, not extreme, sleep, meditation to reduce stress, but not much progress. Has anyone had significant success going good this route?

Those are all valid, but IMHO, they work best for younger guys that are not as low as 260 like yourself. For example, all of those may work and raise your total T by, say for example, 15%. Sounds great, right? Well, adding 15% to your 260 only puts you at 290 - which is still way too low to feel good. That is just an example, but you see what I mean? Raising your Total T by 15, or 20, or 25 percent is not going to cut it even though it sounds great on paper.

Welcome to the forum. Get educated as you can. Watch all the videos. I'm a Defy patient. It makes a world of difference when you're working hand in hand with a practice that specializes in this. If you choose to go with Defy, you will become so tight with them that your PCP, Uro, and Endo will become secondary team members as it relates to your overall health. Best wishes and keep us informed.
