Would taking antibiotics have any affect on testosterone levels? I was sick with strep throat for a couple days and was prescribed antibiotics and I feel like they may have lowered my test a little. Either that or just being sick in with strep throat could of lowered my testosterone? Does being sick have any affect on testosterone? taking pain killers like alieve or ibuprofen have any affect? I was always wondering if any of these factors affected testosterone in any way.

Which antibiotic did you take and do you take a Beta Blocker? I had a very severe sinus infection and only antibiotic that worked was Ceftin. Well, after taking it, I felt awful, no energy at all. Had some Thyroid test ran and found out my Reverse T3 level was very high - 28.1 ng/dl (9.2 - 24.1).

Further research showed Ceftin can cause Thyroid problems along with taking beta blockers over 3 years.

Being sick in general can have a negative effect on ones testosterone levels.

Cortisol levels are elevated as the body is in repair mode (the body is under physical stress).

Usually when one is sick and not feeling well they tend to lack deep restful sleep and also appetite is usually suppressed so calories in the diet are also lacking and these factors can have a negative effect on anabolic hormones.

Your bodies main goal is to ramp up your white blood cells and fight the infection.

Sure pain killers/ibuprofen abuse can lower ones testosterone but not occasional/temporary use.

If anything antibiotics have a negative effect on your healthy gut flora as the healthy bacteria are wiped out from the antibiotic use.

Get yourself a good probiotic and supplement for a month or two.

Make sleep a priority and avoid the gym/exercise for a week or two until your body is healed otherwise you are just asking to be over trained which we know is not
good for healthy t levels.

No stress you will feel better again in no time!

Some times it necessary to put the internet down, get of your head and just go outside for a walk. I would stress more concern about worrying about trivial matters affecting your well being than antibiotics and such.
