Am I and outlier ?

Hi All!

I will make this as brief as possible. How many of you here have high total test but low free test in the TRT value?

My first serum test came back as: (Pre TRT)

Total T 1044 (250-1100) ng/dl

Free T 59.4 (35-155) pg/ml

Estradiol 35 <39

I had all the low T symptoms so the doc started me on a compounded cream along with some Natural thyoid. I started at 37.5mg for a few week moved up to 52.5 now I'm on 75mg.

I feel a huge difference in energy and over all well being. My drive was pretty good for the first few weeks and now it has tapered off. I still feel good most days so I am happy with the results. I can't stand the cream as my body does not absorb cream, lotion or oil very well. And after repeated applications the skin some days just won't have it and it just leaves a little white powdery film on my skin.

I asked the doc for injections and she said she never deals with them since they aren't bio-identical (hahahahaha) She will only do pellets. After much research I decided on not doing pellets and getting a new doc after my short 2 months on the stuff. I have that appointment end of the month and I'm excited about working with the new doc in Santa Monica.

I did a saliva test and another total T it came back as such:

Total T 898 250-1100

my ZRT saliva results 2 weeks before were:

Test 231 pg/ml(115-3700)
Estradiol 1.4 pg/ml (0.5-2.2)
DHEAS 10.3 ng/ml (2-23)
Progesterone 29 pg/ml (12-100)

Just curious if anyone has had this experience since most people I see on the board tend to have low total and free to start.

I urge you to avoid saliva testing (though cortisol saliva tests are in a different category all together). Your estradiol can only be measured via the sensitive lab test, LC, MS/MS. There are excellent self-testing services, including Discountedlabs.com (owned by Nelson).

So your first test, is that on trt or not? Your results aren't clear. Please post the conditions when you had the test done.

Also get shbg tested.

The first serum test is pre-TRT. As others had mentioned I'm sure it's high SHBG, because the total T was in the high normal range but my free was pretty low comparable.
