Hey guys,
i'm dealing with borderline low testosterone and elevated TSH for almost 2 years since I got my blood work to see for the first time. Since then I'm running from one doc to another ( germany ) but can't seem to find a good one.
Symptoms : almost no libido, weak erections, no morning wood, no motivation.

Lately I'm thinking that maybe a possible hypothyroidism could be reason for the low testosterone ? What do you guys say ?

Hope you don't mind that the labs are german, hope you can read via abbreviations.

Thanks

Yes, definitely could be a correlation with the hypothyroidism and hypogonadism. No doubt that both Free T4 and Free T3 are in the tank. Would really like to see antibodies (TPO and TgAb) and Reverse T3 to be able to comment better on your situation. Obviously, at 20yo, it's concerning, and I would hope a physician is seeking out the origin of what's 'causing' this??

When it all shakes out, you would hope to probably see your FT4 and FT3 at/around 50% to 80% of the reference range, so keep that in the back thought if/when treatment starts.

My recent TSH, FT3, FT4, RT3 results are "normal" however my anti TPO antibodies are elevated. Abnormal anti TPO antibodies are an indication of autoimmune thyroid disease or Hashimoto's. In developed nations, Hashimoto's is the leading cause of hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism tends to run in families and I have relatives with the condition.

Although my total testosterone is normal, my free testosterone is low and I experience symptoms of hypogonadism. Like Gene said on Facebook, run the complete thyroid panel including anti TPO and anti TG antibodies. Unfortunately, many conventional doctors rely on TSH and neglect to run the full thyroid panel potentially missing hypothyroidism diagnosis. People suffer unnecessarily due to outdated diagnostic and treatment practices.

Yeah, the docs are the problem. Most don't have a clue about what they're doing which leaves patients suffering. Especially for younger guys, who feel that something is wrong with their hormones, that often leads to self medication as I know some who're doing it that way.

Is rt3 needed or would Anti-Bodies be enough to test in addition ? Ask this because most doc's won't even do anti-bodies lol.
I just want to feel better because I feel like sh***. Don't know if thyroid treatment would bring up my Test levels.

It's not outdated TSH testing it's what all hospitals and their administrators have been told by big pharma as the only way to test thyroid and keep it within budget. Hospitals and government do their very best to keep testing to a minimum and as cheap as possible! Essentially you are correct it doesn't uncover anything of importance. I was severely hypothyroid and all my hospital MD's would do is the TSH. So I went to see a hormone specialist and he was in private practise. So no administration control getting in the way. He found my FT3 very low and put me on cytomel and that was a huge difference for me. It didn't change my low T any but I did feel much better and less depressed. Most hospital MD's do not Rx cytomel... they only Rx synthyroid and watch the TSH. My hormone MD got my thyroid working perfectly first before he put me on TRT. I didn't realize it at the time but after i was put on cytomel I felt really good and only then realised I had been depressed. Once I was put on TRT I felt even better. The misery is behind me now but the most important thing I learned is regular MD's or hospital endocrinologists are the MD's who only follow what administration allows them to do so for the most part they do not think outside of the box. Going private is what changed the game for me.

Yeah, it's needed. They're two completely different tests, and leaving RT3 out will just leave a lot of us here speculating. If your medical team isn't doing these, then they're really not looking too deep into your thyroid.
