How do I measure what the correct dosage of T3 is right for me? Should I slowly increase my dose until my RT3 goes to normal level? Should it be based on TSH? Should it be based on body temperature and pulse rate (I am aware that my resting pulse shouldn't exceed 80 and body temperature 98.6)?
I’ve done a lot of low-calorie, starvation type dieting and that might be why my Reverse T3 is high. Some doctors suggest lowering RT3 will help fix my metabolism so that I am better able to lose weight and increase energy.
My last lab work was…
TSH 5.44
T4, Free 1.5 (0.8–1.8)
T3, Free 3.8 (2.3–4.2)
T3, Total 108 (76–181)
T4, Total 9.2 (4.9–10.5)
T3, Reverse 30 (22–35)
My doctors have given me T3 before but only in small dosages (10–15 mcg) but that didn’t seem to do much for my RT3. So I was going to take it upon myself to take a larger dose.
Btw, I am currently taking 25mcg T3. How long should I wait to check blood again?
