Hello, Excel Males!
A month ago I asked my PCP/GP for a T-test. It came back as 40. They had me come in the next morning to test again, and it showed 65 and diagnosed me with hypogonadism.
I think I've been low T since I was 16 or 17. That's when I recall I started having low energy, little motivation, lethargy, and putting on visceral fat. I guess I self-medicated with fantasy. I got into online gaming; most notably Everquest.
I had little aspirations and joined the Army reserves on a whim. I got in without issue. I was able to pass the fitness tests with great effort and by the skin of my teeth. I was an Army print and photo journalist. I went to Iraq and really put on weight there. A few months after I got home I self-medicated PTSD by drinking heavily and using drugs. A lot of cannabis.
I went to the VA for help, and they put me on SSRIs. I've been on antidepressants for 13.5 years now. I understand some people think that SSRIs cause low T, but I'm pretty sure I had low T for years before starting SSRIs.
I got out of the military after failing 6 drug tests. I shed the weight once when I was a postal carrier. I went to college and got a BA. I got a VA disability for PTSD. I went to live with my step-dad's family in Mexico to try and get healthy. I met my wife, moved back to the US to work.
Life got pretty good for me despite everything. I have a great job doing communications for a federal conservation agency. I live in Albuquerque with my wife and two tiny little kids. I was able to have kids alright. My sperm count was about 90 million, but motility was kind of low.
I want to be healthy for my wife and kids, so I got the T test. I did my first injection one week ago, and I'm getting all sorts of energy.
Had an MRI and they couldn't find any tumors, so don't know the cause at this point.
Edit: Nelson Vergel suggested on the FB group: "Have him prescribe 1 mg per week of cabergoline and get blood tests 4 weeks after that "
