Was reading about it. Checked my self and feel what seems like it could be a small varicocele on my upper right scrotum. Don’t know why I never really checked before. Don’t know how long it’s been there. There is only one real study I can find inline. Says correcting it could in crease t 100-150 on average. Just picked up test cyp today ordered from endo. Now I have a lot of anxiety doubt. Even if it raises me only 100. That could put me in the 400 range. My lab story is in a post below. I know 400 isn’t ideal. But one year ago I was running three miles and doing calisthenics with caffeine assist.
Please help with my delema

What, other than time and a bit of money, do you risk losing by determining if you’re dealing with a varicocele? You aren’t scheduling surgery right from the start. I’d explore this - particularly since you have a history with a urologist.

By the way, I had a varicocele repaired. Decades before hypogonadism was diagnosed. The surgery was a breeze. Don’t be put off by that concern.

Oh there’s no money involved. With my insurance the only thing I payed for was the 6 pack of bud light that kept the boys cold to decrease swelling.

Have a lot of anxiety over this. It took some convincing to en do the prescribe rx with t level at 179 -319 even with symptoms. Have there been any guys around here that have had t correction with surgery.

If you have a varicocele it’s best to correct it with surgery asap. Varicocele damages the testicles. I had one since I was 14. Didn’t have it fixed till I was 27. No increase in testosterone after surgery. If your doctor asks if it hurts and you say no they will not fixed it unless you have low sperm count.

Yea my lh is low normal so I doubt it’s the issue. It’s small and does not hurt. So may wait a few months so they don’t try to stop my therapy

Have your primary care physician order you a pelvic ultrasound. The tech will know in the first 30 seconds if you have a varicocele or not. The test is easy, quick and cheap. I had two large varicoceles which I had removed using the newer radiological procedure. My TT was in the low 400's but free T was around 5 because I have high SHBG. I don't know if the surgery resulted in higher testosterone because my symptoms were bad enough that I started test cyp anyway.

By the way do you have symptoms? You would have a dull ache in your testicles especially after lifting.

Grrrr......let me tell you my story. Back in 2001, I had severe pain in my right testicle. Went to the ER and they thought I had a VD so they gave me a shot. I'm back there 2 days later still in pain. Docs say I have chronic prostatitis and epididymitis and give me antibiotics and pain killers. This dance goes on for 12 years and many other urologists, etc. Now it's 2013 and I'm having problems with fertility. I go to several more docs who say the same thing. Then, one day, I run into a doc who asks, "Have you ever been checked for a varicocele? Nope, I never heard of that. He gives me an appointment and checks me out. Grade 2+ on the right and Grade 1 on the left. Does an ultrasound and confirms it. Does a blood test and I also have hypogonadism. I do the surgery and it's a success but the hypogonadism stays. Fertility goes back up but can't save the T count. Doc tells me that if I got treated sooner, it might have recovered but the fact that I was now in my 40's and wasn't treated for varicocles for over 12 years, now I'm stuck with it. Get it treated as soon as you can before you're stuck with it.

I am 37 and i have no hopes that it will make any difference. I now have 2 million sperm count. Just want to increase it as much as possible. Not expecting any miracle. I also have low testosterone. I am starting test and hcg from next month. Planning to freeze sperm before i go trt therapy.

Interesting that the low t issues could be related to varicocele, although I was treated in my early 20’s though still have a very mild one, maybe I needed to fix it even earlier. i been told it won’t make any difference if I fixed it now, it’s very mild and small,I was never in pain and sperm are always good yet T was my only issue.

I kept wondering why my body have low T the only thing I had is varicocele beside that very healthy and workout daily.

I froze sperm years ago but I let it go since I don't plan on having anymore children. It's a good idea though to do that.

I went from 5M to 25M. Under 20M is when the docs start to look at fertility issues.
Nice, thats a significant increase in sperm count considering u has vericocele for so many years. I have an appointment on sep 19 with a urologist. Hopefully it will be resolved, even if it crosses 15 million, i will be glad.
