Total and free test results

I decided to take advantage of the discounted labs $29 special and here are the results:

Testosterone, Serum 598ng/dL 348 - 1197
Free Testosterone(Direct) 15.5pg/mL 6.8 - 21.5 02

Would I benefit from trt? I'm thinking the next step is to get a more comprehensive set of tests.

What is your age and general state of health? TRT might be what you need or may not, depending upon many things. Age, overall health, stress levels, etc...For example, if you are 25, then you would want to try everything you can to get your natural levels up and avoid TRT, but if you are, say, 50, then TRT is a more attractive option once health factors are taken into consideration.

Do you feel confident in your doctor's ability to treat a possible case of hypogonadism? You are a borderline candidate for therapy; given your age and levels there will need to be a thorough discussion and more testing. A good doctor is critical to making this work. You have no sexual/libido issues? I would look at thyroid and cortisol levels with great care.

Sexual performance and libido are slightly weaker than when I was in my twenties, but the difference is not nearly as significant as the difference in energy levels, strength, mood, and memory.

Are you you thinking this could be related to high cortisol and low thyroid?

Your levels are not low enough to start TRT, testosterone is not a cure for everything. Would you feel comfortable with a consultation with Defy Medical, Dr Sasy is very helpful. Hopefully he can set you in the right direction. Yes, could be related to high cortisol and low thyroid.

You confirmed what I was thinking. I just wanted to get some feedback because I've seen posts from people who say they don't feel their best unless they are right at the high end of the normal range.

I'm one of them, I like my levels at the high end of normal or a little above.

What is your bodyfat percentage? Do you drink alcohol? If so how much?

Do you have any test results from when you were younger as a reference? I don't ever remember getting my levels tested when I was younger. I suppose its possible that I used to have levels at the top end of the normal range and now that I am right in the middle I can feel the difference.

I never drink alcohol. My scale says my bf is about 16%. I carry most of my body fat around my midsection. The skin on my arms and legs is thin and vascular.

I do not know my levels when I was younger, If I had to guess, I would think they were lower. Because of a childhood injury, my leydig cells in my left testicle were always inactive.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
