Thigh pain 4 days after injection

I have experienced slight pain in my thigh from previous injections. However; this time it is pretty painful. I can not run and it hurts to bend my leg. There are some visible signs of swelling, but not much. It is not red or bruised and very tender to the touch. It even seems a bit hard, almost like I'm flexing my muscle.

Does anyone have experience with that? Could I have done permanent damage?

Your muscle isn't used to having fluid in it, were you bobbing in and out with the needle when you were injecting? Also if you get some test on the outside of the needle injections will have a burning sensation to them.

What area of your thigh did you inject, possible you may have hit a nerve (lateral or intermediate femoral cutaneous nerve), there should be no permanent damage.

Most of us on ExcelMale do not inject on quads any longer.

Your pain will get better with time.

Try to switch to subcutaneous or shallow IM injections of 50-75 mg twice per week.

Do you recall anything different about this injection? Was your muscle relaxed of flexed? I am a thigh injector but don't have any issues. Like Nelson showed in his slide, I use a 1/2" 28 guage needle. I think that if you hit a nerve you would know it - they are not shy.

We all get some post site reaction from time to time, i get that in the thigh and I know it's sore and almost painful for a few days. I think there's no concern as you're obviously aware of infection, etc etc
Soreness and or bruising occasionally are par for the course.

I think I might have tensed up and there was some oil on the outside of the needle.

I get a little tense and think that might have caused it. I use a 25 3/8 and will request the size Nelson suggests.

This for sure has been the worst injection for sure.

Just for peace of mind, I tried IM ONCE. It sounds like I used the same exact site that you did, however I was using a 28g 1/2" insulin syringe (30 ml). I was truly relaxed, however there was a point during the insertion of the needle when my whole leg spasmed involuntarily, which was discomforting for sure. My quad felt like someone had kicked me for more than a week, and there seemed to be a bit of swelling which migrated towards my knee.

Eventually the pain went away and I went back to SubQ.

Ive been doing IM thigh injections since I started 9 months ago. Ever since I started doing a bit of massage and ten strong leg flexes, I never have any discomfort. I did try to talk to my doctor before I started about doing SubQ twice a week but he believed that IM was more effective. Although IM seems fine, I think it'd be better for my muscles if I was using a smaller needle, as these things add up.

I should ask him again about it. I want to be on the same page of the protocol but need to be my own advocate right?

I stopped injecting in the thighs because of pain also, even though I use an easy touch 27 gauge half inch syringe. Now I only inject in my shoulders and VG, shallow IM with a 29 gauge half inch syringe.

Last week I injected into my quads south of where I normal inject and last couple days after shot leg was a little sore, pay attention to where you're injecting. I notice an inch in one direction can string a little more than an inch in another direction whether in shoulders or quads.
