Storing Trimix

First time Trimix user (if I don’t chicken out). Received it a few minutes ago. It says to put it in freezer. Looking here and elsewhere online, I’m seeing about 70% saying refrigerate and 30% saying keep frozen. If I freeze, won’t that necessitate thawing? And refreezing, which is a no-no?

Also, the prescriber (my uro) told me to see him for the first injection, but the delivery came with pretty simple instructions that mirror everything I’m seeing online. If I get up the courage, what could be the downside to self-injecting at home? I have read long and hard (lol) about priapism, so I know about the risk and have ephedrine on hand.

I don’t think I’m going to use this. I think I just needed to get it and have it for peace of mind (if that makes any sense).

I have hardly any sex drive right now, and the idea of having an uncontrollable boner sounds almost painful. As much as I’ve lamented about seldom having morning erections, when I’ve gotten them while experiencing a similar fridgity to what I feel now, they felt wrong.

So between very low sex drive, fear of putting a needle into my penis, fear of priapism, and the unpleasant thought of having an erection even after orgasm, I am putting this med on the backburner…way way back.

Who knows, I could wake up tomorrow and decide “Fuck it. I’m doing it!”. There is a precedent for that type of 180. But I really hope I don’t. The whole thing is just too weird.

(Weird for me. Definitely no aspertions casted on those who use it and love it.)

Hi Rick-
I've been using this for a few years now successfully with zero cases of priapism. On the first injection I can see the benefit of going to the doc for the first one if you are unsure which it sounds like you aren't. That first injection is pretty scary but it gets routine quickly. The main issue is dose because everyone is different so anecdotal stories on the forum aren't super helpful because they vary so much. On the first injection or two its best to undershoot the dose so as to find out where you respond best which means don't do it when you will have your partner present. By the third (or if you are lucky the second) time you should be pretty close. I dose it for a reliable two hour response but there is one poster on here who has different doses for different response durations which I found interesting.

On freezing - because I know my dose when I reconstitute a vial I draw up all of it into syringes and freeze them and defrost one at a time as I need them. I never had an issue with efficacy. The last syringe will always be a lesser amount but I just defrost that and inject it into the next vial when I reconstitute it.

I hope this helps.

Makes sense to me. I used to have anxiety, and I had this one Xanax tablet I carried in my pocket for maybe two years straight. The reassurance that I could stop a panic attack if I needed to with the medication helped tremendously to prevent the panic response from starting. I never actually needed to use it.

The power of complete manual control over the physical aspects of sexual function is simply awesome, and I only wish I discovered it sooner. If you don't need it though, you dont need it.

That totally helps. I really couldn’t make sense out of freezing/thawing when you can’t refreeze, but your explanation about knowing your dosage and pre-filling explains it all. I was definitely planning on undershooting, and am glad you spoke about that.

I’m not sure if you posted before seeing my followup post. I’ve just about psyched myself out of it. But I’m keeping it and might change my mind at any time, and your advice makes it easier if I finally indulge. Thanks a bunch!

One thing I wish is that I could inject it on the upside of the shaft. For instance if the penis is hanging down I wouldnt be too nervous about injecting right into the middle of the front. But from what I’m seeing the injections have to be on the sides, which is much scarier.

If you were looking at a cross section of your penis, the optimal angles for the injection are 10 and 2 o'clock. You can also get away with 11 and 1 o'clock, and 9 and 3 o'clock. You don't want to go any higher or lower than that or you will hit the wrong tissues.

If you make some big mistake with the location of the injection (very unlikely if you follow the simple instructions above), remember you've only got a tiny 5/16" needle. You aren't going to cause any serious damage with that, no matter where you stick that in your body, besides maybe your eyeball. So, just try and relax.

Injected .15 at 6:10pm EDT. I'd say the pain was a 2 or 3 out of 10. I stretched it and applied the swab for only a minute. Don't know if I'll regret that.

Anyway, let's see what happens. I won't be disappointed if it's nothing, as I know I'm starting off with a low dose.

.15 isn't a low dose. Why did you start there and not .05 as is commonly recommended?

Nothing. Will try again in two or three days with .25. I guess going up .10 is safe since I got absolutely nothing from this.

However, I may’ve injected too low (which is exactly where I said I dreaded to inject and was subsequently told I didn’t have to inject there). So maybe that was the issue. Idk, as much instruction as I’ve gotten I’m still a little mixed up.

Gonna be weird trying to inject lefthanded.

RickB, I was rooting for you when reading this thread, I'm glad you gave it a try. Can I ask how old you are? I'm 68 and basically in the same boat as you; the viagra works OK (I guess), but the stars still have to align to have a successful outcome. I haven't tried or ordered any bimix/trimix yet, but I'd rather take a mix that assures me of a good hardness without me having to think about it, or worry about it disappearing at the wrong time. I get it, I would be hesitant to do that first shot too. What did you use? I hear a 1/2" 28-30G needle is the way to go. Please keep us apprised of how it's going; there are some of us very interested in your experience.

I prefer 31g 5/16" for peace of mind that I'm not going to go too deep and hit the wrong tissue, and to minimize tissue damage.
You know what? 5/16" or 3/8" makes intuitive sense to me, I don't know why they often suggest 1/2", which seems like it could go too deep to me (unless you have a bull dick . . .). I've heard you should massage some before injecting to get some extra size to accommodate the needle? True? Or maybe you don't have to bother with the 5/16"?

Don't mean to hijack a very interesting thread, but can I ask . . . do men normally "graduate" to a mix when the oral ED meds don't work as well as they used to?

Thanks Melody68. I’m 54, and I appreciate the support. I used a 30g 5/16 syringe. The pharmacy included 10 with delivery of the Rx.

I’ll definitely post when I try again. It could be tomorrow, but I might wait. I scheduled an appointment with my uro for 9/11. I was (and kind of still am) prepared to continue without him, but I very, very recently noticed just how ridiculously curved to one side my erection is (I had no idea until I recorded myself in the mirror), so I made the appt with that as my focus.

But I almost certainly will inject while there, unless he is very concerned about the curvature.

All that I know about this subject is what I've read, no real life experience. But the guys say the .15 that you injected is a significant dose; since you felt nothing it's more likely that you missed the target, and rather than inject a bigger dose I'd probably stick with the .15 (or even less) and try a different location (or a longer needle or whatever). I think I read an entry once where a fellow had to go to the ER for priapism after injecting (what I thought was) .25. Thinking outside of the box, could the trimix that you injected be at fault? I'd experiment a bit more before I upped the dose . . .

Yes, this. When I first started, I was not always reliably injecting into the correct tissue. What can happen with the small 5/16" needle: if you don't push in hard enough, you may fail to actually penetrate into the corpus cavernosum, and then your injection is basically a subq injection just under the skin of the penis, which does nothing. You'll basically get zero effect if this occurs or maybe some superficial swelling around the site.

Don't escalate the dose yet, especially if you saw no effect at all from the first try. That would definitely suggest to me that you missed with your injection.

This makes good sense. I imagine that any first time injectors could approach with a timid streak and that, combined with a shorter needle, could miss the mark. Does the corpus cavernosum give some resistance when encountered; can you feel it push through that barrier? I think I'll try a 3/8" needle when I finally get there.

Somewhat. It is not quite as clear as when you puncture the muscle with an IM shot, but I can tell. Basically, if you have a 5/16" needle, you should make sure it is pushed completely in with a good amount of pressure.

Question: Can you reconstitute the vial, freeze it, thaw it, and refreeze it? I drew up syringes prior to first freezing (and froze those), but didnt want to draw up all since there may have been dosage adjustment, so unthawed, drew up more, and then froze again.
