New To TRT - Compounded Cream Sides

Hi all,

I started trt 3 weeks ago on sub q injections. Unfortunately, due to having mcas, I had severe systemic reactions to cottonseed oil, and castor oil to a lesser extent. Theres only olive oil left to try here in the UK. Theres no compounding pharmacies in Europe that I can find to make T in MCT oil or similar.

Because of the above, I switched to compounded cream in a HRT base applied to the scrotum 50mg AM and 50mg PM.

Within an hour I get a tense feeling, some chest aching and pressure, and I feel awful like Ive been given adrenaline. My heart feels like its beating stronger. BP, HR and ECG all OK. These effects lasts 3 hours before starting to die down.

Im guessing its because I have mcas and pots and my body does not like the rapid hormonal spikes. I was wondering if anyone else has had anything similar, and would changing to Pentravan base help as apparently its meant to be more slowly absorbed?

I could also try alternate sites such as the inner thighs and shoulders, but is it still possible to get a decent level here?

Any advice much appreciated

Cheers

I also use the scrotal cream and as a test, I started applying it to my inner thighs and then had levels done. 100mg (50mg each thigh) in the AM and 50mg in the pm resulted in a total testosterone of 981 ng/mL and a free testosterone of 23.88 ng/mL.

That's good to know thanks. How long after applying did you get bloods done?

Hi, good to see such grate results on paper. Can I ask how old are you and if you're doing this protocol a long time? How do you feel overall fiscally, emotionally, sexually?
Have you done injections before?

I also tried testosterone compound cream before 40mg Am and PM and also had anxiety and chest pressure at first, I think it subsided with time and became less evident some anxiety here and there.

I’m 55 and started on TRT in 2022. Always the topical scrotal cream. I started at 100mg twice daily. Which, in hindsight was way too high a dose. But, I didn’t know any better at the time. Right now I’m using 50mg once daily in the morning and am considering reducing it further bases on labs I got last week. Total testosterone was 1296 and free testosterone was 240.

The inner thigh application was an experiment to see if the acne I was experiencing would improve but it didn’t.

I feel fine. No more fatigue, workouts are good, sleep is good, sex is good.

If I were you, I’d drop the evening dose and just try dosing in the morning. I noticed a big improvement with how I felt when I did that.

Yeah i seen to now be tolerating sub q. Even tried the cream and its ok now. I guess my body needed to get used to it as each time I had less and less of a reaction

There isn't enough emphasis on the fact that weird and unpleasant symptoms are quite possible when starting TRT, which are likely temporary, and shouldn't be interpreted to mean you cannot tolerate TRT generally or even the particular form you're using. I'm certain I also reached a bunch of hypochondriac-like false conclusions about my own reactions to various forms of TRT when I first began.

For sure. It was really worrying though, the chest pain and tightness was really intense and it happened every single time. I stuck it out for 2 weeks and it got better so happy days. Hopefully will see the benefits start in a few weeks as right now its tanked my libido and five me ED.
