Chris, you had mentioned she's running new labs, right about this time ... I'll keep an eye out for them.
Unfortunately, this could very well be much deeper than those two areas. She needs to take a hard look at her thyroid, adrenals, and iron/ferritin, along with other related labs (DHEA, B12, Potassium, Magnesium, Vitamin D3). This is all quite common in peri/post menopausal women, when progesterone deficiency contributes to estrogen dominant like conditions. Many of the variables like the thyroid and adrenals don't get back on the right track until they are addressed and treated properly.
Lots to talk about when she gets her labs. Hoping she ran the gamut so that we can get a better picture of what's going on.
