MRI results look good!

Ok, so being sure I do not leave any stones uncovered in my diagnosis I had an MRI last week. I was kind of in panic mode after the test. Until the test most of my thoughts where just that I was doing it to cover the bases, but after the test I was a little freaked out with the concern that a tumor could be the cause of my low t. Well, I got the results online this morning and everything looks clear. Coincidentally last week before the test I was having lunch with one of my uncles. He's at the age where one of the main topics is his health. And, usually tmi. He mentioned something that I never knew. He was diagnosed with low t over thirty years ago. He has empty sella. They did not rx him test, but instead used a drug I had never heard of. He said it did work to lower his lactose, and raise his testosterone, but it made him feel lousy otherwise, so he stopped taking it. After talking to him I had myself convinced that I too had empty sella.

I have a bone scan scheduled next, but I'm not 100% convinced I want to have the bone scan done.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

It was through a bone scan, prior to the commencement of TRT, that it was discovered that I had developed osteopenia due to low estradiol - the result of an extended period of hypogonadism. It takes but a few minutes. Still, your body and your call.

A bone scan is pretty safe, only very little radiation exposure. I also had one before I started TRT.

May I ask what prompted the scan, and what have you done regarding osteopenia?

Thank you

It's well established that men with low estradiol are at much greater risk for fractures, serious ones. Hypogonadism is marked by low testosterone and - in many, many cases, low estradiol. I was regularly swimming six days a week but added weight work, lifting three days per week now.

Thank you. I weight train now. Looks like I'm keeping the appointment for the scan. I'm just sick of getting poked at. I'm not a fan of getting a shot, and here I am poking away. Never, ever thought I could give myself a shot.
