Looking for a 'Beginner's Guide' to Peptides

I'm contemplating trying some peptides for energy and mitochondria repair, mainly SS-31 and Mots-C. I've been on TRT for about 12 years so quite familiar with self injections and being careful with dosing.

My primary care doc is no help, he can't deviate from the system, I totally understand. Finding a local doctor (I'm in Rhode Island) that will help with peptides will be a challenge, so I thought I might try these two peptides (above) on my own. But I need to educate myself a bit. Can anyone help me out?

Many thanks

Finding a doctor who even knows anything about peptides is nearly impossible, let alone being able to source or prescribe them for you. We are on our own in this endeavor. Fortunately, there are excellent resources, and most products are easily obtainable.

SS31 is a promising option for age related decline in mitochondrial function, it is also easily obtainable, the same goes for Mots-C. I would recommend starting with a course of Epithalon first, then progressing on to other peptides. Epithalon has been extensively researched and is a proven option.

Beginners:
  • Dosage: 1–2 mg daily via subcutaneous injection.
  • Cycle Duration: 10–20 consecutive days.
  • Frequency: Repeat the cycle 1–2 times per year, such as in the spring and fall.
Example 2: Russian protocol for advanced anti-aging
  • Dosage: 10 mg daily via subcutaneous injection.
  • Cycle Duration: 10 consecutive days.
  • Frequency: Repeat the cycle 3–4 times per year.
Example 3: Ukrainian protocol for general maintenance
  • Dosage: 10 mg via subcutaneous injection every three days.
  • Cycle Duration: 5 doses over approximately 15 days.
  • Frequency: Repeat 3–4 times per year.
Potential benefits of Epithalon
The purported benefits of Epithalon are linked to its ability to stimulate the pineal gland and activate telomerase, an enzyme that maintains and lengthens telomeres. These benefits may include:
  • Anti-aging effects: Lengthening telomeres can lead to improved cellular function and reduced biomarkers of aging.
  • Improved sleep: By regulating melatonin production and circadian rhythms, Epitalon can improve sleep quality, particularly for older adults.
  • Enhanced immune function: The peptide has been shown to support the thymus gland and improve immune cell activity.
  • Hormonal balance: Epitalon can help restore hormonal balance, including normalizing levels of cholesterol, cortisol, and prolactin.
  • Antioxidant and neuroprotective properties: It can reduce cellular oxidative stress and protect neurons from age-related damage.
I prefer the Russian Protocol personally; I do it twice a year. Be certain to obtain your peps from a reliable source. There are several great options available. It isn't cheap, you will need 100 mg for the Russian Protocol. Don't shop the bargain basement options either, you have no idea what you're getting. 100 mg from PS is 430.00. Worth every penny.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
