Likelihood of endotoxin contamination of lyophilized peptides

Has anyone experienced an acute toxic reaction to any peptide compounds?

Following is a cautionary tale and what happened in my case.

3 weeks ago, I trialed a small dose (100mcg) of ACE-031 (recommended dose is 1mg/week). This peptide is a myostatin inhibitor used for increasing lean mass. The CoA done via MS/UV showed 99.0% purity. No adverse side effects. I took another dose the next day and again, no sides.

2 weeks ago, I took a dose of 500mcg. Within 15 minutes, I started feeling flu-like symptoms (muscles ache, nausea, chills/shaking) which ramped up to the point I needed urgent care. I vomited and had diarrhea so bad, I barely made it to the urgent care center. All they could do for me was IV liquids and anti-nausea meds. I became severely dehydrated, my BP dropped to 89/56, my liver enzymes were elevated, my pulse was elevated and I was extremely weak. I was discharged the next day, but my lips broke out in sores and it's taken me this long to regain some sort of balance again.

Do I know for a fact it was the peptide? Only that the symptoms presented immediately following administration. That is pretty clear. I reached out to the lab that did the analysis and they stated the HPLC based tests used to determine the purity can detect most toxins and impurities but cannot detect endotoxins.

The symptoms I had mimic viral gastroenteritis but also are indicative of endotoxin poisoning. That is what's freaking me out at this point (could I still have lingering bacterial toxins).

Would appreciate any and all insight.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
