  • The webinar focuses on sexuality and aging in couples, with presentations on both male and female sexual health.
  • For women, androgens (especially testosterone) play an important role in sexual function, particularly for desire. Low testosterone levels are associated with sexual dysfunction.
  • Testosterone therapy has shown benefits for postmenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), but there's a lack of approved testosterone treatments for women in many parts of the world.
  • New approaches are being developed for more personalized treatment of female sexual dysfunction, considering factors like inhibitory and excitatory pathways.
  • For men, aging is associated with a decline in sexual function, including issues with libido, erectile dysfunction, and orgasmic/ejaculatory problems.
  • Regenerative therapies like stem cells, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and shockwave therapy are being investigated for erectile dysfunction, but evidence is currently limited.
  • Echocardiography may help risk-stratify men with erectile dysfunction for cardiovascular disease.
  • PDE5 inhibitors remain the cornerstone treatment for erectile dysfunction, with new formulations like orally dispersible films being developed.
  • Clinical trials on stem cells and PRP for erectile dysfunction have shown mixed results, with small sample sizes and short follow-up periods limiting conclusions.
  • Currently, there is insufficient evidence to justify the use of regenerative injectables for erectile dysfunction in clinical practice.
