Is TRT a life long commitment for those who were not Hypogonadal?

Looking at your picture, you don't look overweight.

That pic was about 6 years ago, I weighed ~150-155 lbs at the time, still overweight for 5.4 guy. I was on TRT for about 2 years at that time, I came down from 190lbs to a low of 150lbs. The shirt covers up a lot.

The pic was for a dating site profile, I took a fair amount of time framing the pic to look my best, for sure I was holding in my stomach :):).

After quitting TRT a few years ago, I gained back ~20 lbs to a high of 170, right now I am 165.

I first measured estradiol 3 years ago and it was <5.1 and then I weight 165lbs. Since then the only thing that boosted my E2 was clomid, and that only got it to 27.6 (TT 478), I was about 168 lbs, maybe 30% body fat.

After stopping clomid my E2 went back down to 7.3 and then in another test less than 5.0 while my weight hovered around 168-171.

I have read research that indicates fat is only a minor contributor to E2 and most E2 is aromatization from testosterone in the testicles. Fat is more a result of low testosterone than it is a contributor to low testosterone.

I certainly aromatize E2, but it's less than expected from whatever my level of TT is. With a high level of TT of 1389 ng/dl my E2 was 56.2, the highest I have ever seen it, but not so great when considering the TT.

BTW, my SHBG runs from 35-40, so that also limits the amount of free E2.

I will soon do some more blood test, I will post and am curious myself what it will show. I am guessing my TT will be around 600-800 ng/dl and E2 maybe 25, but that is a logical prediction. For sure I can't tell by any sort of body sense, I can tell when my TT is below ~450 ng/dl, but outside of that I can't sense how high it might be above ~600 ng/dl.

Maybe if my TT were ever at a supraphysiological level above 2000-3000 ng/dl I could "sense" it, but since I have never done that I don't know.

If I get the time, I should post some pics I had from when i was 190 lbs before TRT, it's a big change in body composition. I had a few shirtless body pics displaying body composition a girl I was dating wanted to take for her journal, a long story, but it was in 2010 maybe I weighed 155. It better displays my body fat at the time.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
