High Prolactin Levels - next steps to take?

Hi,

I have had blood work taken and my prolactin levels are highly elevated. It came back at 696 mIU/l and the reference range is 86.00 - 324.00. This is obviously very high.

My other results were:

D.H.E.A Sulphate: 8.590 umo/L

Follicle Stim Hormone: 3.52 IU/L

Lutenising Hormone: 4.69 IU/L

Testosterone: 19.2 nmol/L

Free Test. 0.465 nmo/L

Sex Hormone binding: 26.4. nmo/L

Free Androgen Index: 72.73 Ratio

17-Beta Oestradiol: 117 pmol/L

I am 24 years old, 5ft 11 and 170lbs.

I have had gynecomastia since I was a teenager so I think that might be a link to my very high prolactin levels.

My mum also takes a thyroid medication, which might be something related to how I feel, should I get my thyroid checked? My general symptoms are low libido, fatigue and struggle to build muscle aswell as never having a morning erection.

Any help in terms of what treatment or next steps to be taken would be much appreciated.

I would retest it to verify and eliminate any lab error. Also, fast atleast 8hrs prior and have your blood drawn first thing in the morning. As well, refrain from any sexual activity for 48hrs prior.

No reason to panic at this point, labs do make mistakes.

I am getting another test done tomorrow. If it is reporting a similarly high proclactin level, do you know what I might need to do, treatment wise? Are my testosterone levels okay for my age?

If you have a repeat high Prolactin next would be an exmination or MRI of the Pituitary as a condition there could be overly producing PRL.
